Roof issues

Just wondering if anyone has heard of or experienced this issue. I made our dealer aware today and am awaiting an appointment to have it addressed. It appears the front roof edge is heaving up and allowing moisture to get under the roof and front cap. The roof is curling and the cap is either wet or delaminating. I'll keep you posted of the dealer and Crossroads response.

I haven't personally experienced it, but it definitely happens. Just from the pictures, it looks like a workmanship issue. Have you kept a good eye on the caulking along the edge? I saw what looks like a fresh bead of sealant there. Was there cracking in the caulk or was it pulled loose? Anyway, I feel for you. That could be an expensive repair if the cap is actually delaminating. Good luck, I hope CR steps up and takes care of it.

I haven't done any caulk work and as far as I know the dealer hasn't either. We just bought the unit in October. I'm awaiting a call back from the dealer for an appointment. I don't see any cracking. I was thinking the edge was cut to exact length and it isn't allowing expansion of the edging in warm weather or sunlight. The gap yesterday was 1/8". Today in the cold and rain I can hardly see the gap.

I have experienced a similar problem. Mine did not lift like your has, but the roof material does not extend under that trim strip and when sealant has cracked and allowed water to run right in. Found water in both closets on either side of the bed and in the pass through. I have purchased a 50 foot roll of 6" wide Eternabond tape and will be actually fixing the problem as soon as weather allows. Tad more expensive than a tube of Dicor, but much more permanent. In the mean time I have black plastic over the seam.

That stinks and sorry for your roof issues, but on the bright side at least its still under warranty and I'm confident that Crossroads will take care of you. The reason I say this is I have an 2009 5ver and 2 years ago the front of the rubber roof looked like a balloon going down the road.

I contacted Crossroads just to speak to them about it and they offered to fix it for free if I brought it to the factory or they would pay half if taken to a dealership of my choice. I took it to the dealership because fuel cost would of been about the same if not more to tow it there. Moral of my blabbing is they took care of me when they could of told me I was on my own.

Good luck with getting your issues resolved to your satisfaction

DWags,

Keep us informed on what the dealer says. I too have a 300BH, albeit a 2013 and also in Ohio!

Before the Sunset Trail Super Lite it was called Slingshot and the ones I saw in 2012 all had the wavey front where the rock guard met the front.

The Slingshot had a fiberglass roof.

DW,

I assume you bought that from our Akron area Crossroads dealer. I am watching this anxiously to see how responsive they are...

I too am very very interested in their response.

My guess is they're going to glob it up with either Sealant or Dicor on the roofline. I personally would not be accepting of that.

I'm in the Akron area and ultimately purchased my trailer elsewhere but they're still the closest dealer for my warranty work of which I've not had to rely on. The few issues we've had were able to be worked out over the phone with Crossroads customer service (kudos to customer service) and a few hours of my time on the weekends (thermostat issue, awning light died, etc.)

Just got a call from the dealer. I am dropping it off Friday morning. I've made it known to the service advisor that just sealing will not be acceptable to me. I'm going to ask that they keep me informed of the inspection and repair. If the cap needs to come off, which I believe it does, my wife and I want to see it first hand to be sure there is or isn't moisture in the wall. Updates will be posted as I have them. Thanks for having my back during this and all the suggestions. It makes me sick to my stomach that we just bought the unit and are having this type of issue.

No worries yet Dwags,

Your still under the manufacturer warranty and If you are not satisfied with the fix, you can get Crossroads involved.

Also, you still early in the season and they should be able to do the work and have it back to you before we get any decent weather (Decent in my book is a sunny, dry weekend over 60).

I'd send pix of what my unit looks like up top, but it is still in cold storage.

I've not dealt with that dealer other than walking in and looking at a couple units, but I've heard the most trying issue with them is getting your trailer in the door for repair, so you got past that issue with flying colors.

Dropped her off Friday morning and my service rep walked through the unit with me to make sure he sees and agrees with my concerns. So far, I'm pleased with his response. Now it's a waiting game...

Just went to look at my 290QB for a pre - season inspection and found this happening...so mad! Is there a simple fix for this or is a dealer/CR issued? Also there are places on the front cap that flex when I push on them and the decal is peeling. It's that normal after less than a year of ownership?
