City Water Connection

My 300BH was just purchased in April and yesterday I noticed the city water connection is starting to pull lose from the trailer. Not a major problem yet, but the top screw has pulled free and I can see a small gap. You would think they would reinforce this area because there is always downward pressure caused by the loaded hose hooked up to it. I think this must be a common problem with RV's because my son also has a fairly new trailer, different brand, and his pulled completely free and started leaking inside the trailer before he noticed the problem. Any others out there with a similar problem? How did you deal with it?

There is an elbow connection that removes the downward pressure and creates a straight drop for hose through trailer port.

My rig came with it.

Sorry to hear you're having an issue. Are you using a 90 degree hose adapter or just hooking the hose up directly to the city connection? I have always used one of these and haven't had a problem. I also use a pressure regulator and water filter at the water spigot to keep from blowing out my lines as well as keeping out the dirt.
Wally World had them for about $4.

Not sure about fixing, but should be under warranty if you just purchased in April.
Good luck!

Thanks for the input. The 90deg elbow should help, but it would seem there is still all the weight of the hose pulling down on the connection..but I'm definitely going to use one. I do use a pressure regulator and have the water filter at the spigot. I was just wondering if anyone had reinforced the hose attachment in some way to the RV wall.

If you can somehow reach the inside of the connection, you might be able to put some speed nuts on or even replace the screws with nut, bolt and washer.

Most of what I have seen, have a small piece of plywood backing glued on the inside for the screws to anchor into.

Had a similar problem, had filter connected at city water connection & weight pulled top screw out of the plywood backing. I removed screw, caulked around screw hole, inserted a plastic lag shield & screwed back together. I do now use the elbow mentioned in other posts & attach the filter to the spigot. No leaks or problems since.
Hope this helps.

The hole for the hose connection was probably a bit to large so the unit was installed to low thus leaving the top screw screwed into nothing , just the calking and sealant holding it. Put a backer plate of some sort behind and screw or bolt in properly.
