I have a 2012 31SB Zinger that has a Atwood hot water heater. It came with a plastic plug, and according to the documentation, it does not take an anode rod. I am assuming it's an aluminum tank. I have been using the plastic plug it came with and had no problems, but can some other owners confirm this? I drain the water heater after every use, and flush it. Also, does anybody know where the by-pass valve is for winterizing this? I like to bypass the WH when I do my antifreeze, and I am sure it's in there.

Thanks!

Tank is aluminum. flush a few times a year to keep water fresh. No Anode.

Bypass valves should be directly behind WH. Atwood uses a check valve for "hot" line, so there may only be 2 valves. Simple rule - if handle is in line with water line, valve is open. Mine are a ***** to get to.

With most trailers the bypass valves are on the back side of the water heater behing a panel that you have to remove to get to them. Look for a panel with some screws that can be removed.

Not sure if it was pointed out when you did the walk through with the dealer or if you already found out on your own. On your hands and knees crawl around the trailer floor. Everywhere you see a panel with screws (square head tip) there is something to get to behind it.

The water heater bypass access is directly below the pantry.

We have the 31SB as well and have had nothing but good luck with it. I hope you get everything straightened out with yours.

Confirmed no rod... I only empty WH if the trailer is going to sit for more than 2 weeks. If don't empty I feel the water gets smelly.

I recently just flushed my tank, basically I took the hand spray on the hose and just high pressure streamed the inside of the tank. Water looked really clean, no chunks.
