Strange (funny) humming sound
While on the road today we pulled into a rest area and DW reports a strange humming in the rear of the trailer. I squeezed past the kitchen counter and heard nothing in the living area. Clearly the sound was mid trailer. Checked that the water pump was off. Went outside and verified the sound wasn't from the rear electric jacks, slides or awning motors. Opened the under sink doors and the sound was coming from the water heater. Really?? Doesn't make sense.
So, I gave up and got back on the road. But started thinking, if the hum was coming from the 12v control board for the water heater, it could start a fire. Plus the propane was on for the refer. So, I pulled over again, shut off the propane and pulled all the 12v fuses to kill power to the water heater. The humming was still there.
Made one final attempt to find the noise and opened the drawer above the water heater. And there was the answer, a battery powered can opener, happily humming along. Guess that button on top of the can opener is just too big of a target for other objects bouncing around in the same drawer.

Larry....As I was reading this, all kinds of thoughts were going through my mind as to a possible source of the humming. When you mentioned the water heater I literally said "Huh?". Then I kept reading....Who would have thought a can opener! Good story.

Brings back the memory of when my rechargeable electric shaver started to hum in the overhead compartment above my seat on an airplane.

I think Larry quit "roughing" it when he got rid of the tent and bought an RV.
I did to.

DW opens the cans so she decides, besides, she has some arthritis.

Neat story. I actually find the manual can openers less aggravating! Maybe just never had a good electric one?
