I see Jerry Jugs and wonder how many carry extra fuel and in what manners do you do it?

We have about a 400 mile towing range and prefer to travel around 300-350 miles a day. However, when we go on long trips like from Texas to CA or the Carolinas we sometime travel 500+ miles a day and carry a couple of 5-gal cans of diesel in the back of the truck. I have a 18" section of 3/4" hose to fit the spout of the can and set it on the rail of the truck so I don't have to hold it. Also installed a vent in the can to make it flow faster. It allows us to make better time since we can add fuel during a rest stop instead oflooking fora gas station.

My truck only holds 26 gal. so I put a 48 gal tank in the box. Can travel close to 600 miles before fuel. Upstate NY to WV with out getting off the road. I fuel at pit stops.

We too like to travel 300 - 350 miles/3 -4 hours a day, gives us time to look for camping/fuel and to set up in the daylight vs trying to get into and setting up in the dark. Have two tanks and have added four5 galJerry cans. (One can see pics of, in the "truck mods" thread on this forum.)
