Hello from CT!! Just got back from 10 days of Spring time camping in North Eastern CT. 2 Nights were cold enough for the fresh water hose to freeze up but it's all good . Looking forward to the next time out.

I am considering buying the ST30BH. I also have a 5.7 Tundra. How's the combination working out.

We purchased our first travel trailer; 2008 30BH. I never imagined our first trailer would be 30 ft. We love it! Looking forward to using it and being part of this forum.

AndyV

We tow a ST30BH with our YukonXL which has a 5.4 and a towing capacity of 7200 lbs. The dry weight is about 5100 lbs and we calculated that our gear is about 1500 lbs for a total of 6600 lbs or about 90% of the towing capacity. We have pulled in the mountians and never had a problem. If you have read this forum you will see that almost everyone has a very high opinion of the Sunset Trail.

Good Luck and Happy Camping.

AndyV,

I tow a ST30BH with a Dodge RAM with the 5.7 Hemi. Just made an 800 mile round trip to Williamsburg, VA and had no issues. Towed before with a 5.3 in a Chevy. It was a little slow in the mountains, but we got there.

Welcome to the forum! Pretty friendly bunch here, but what would you expect from Sunset Trail owners? Don't be shy about asking for help. Most everyone here loves to answer qusetions.

Enjoy!

Andy V,
Â*

If you only pull in the relatively flat part of the US, you have more than enough truck for the job.Â* I'm the one with a contrary opinion, so take it with that in mind.Â* I believe in having enough truck to do the job.Â* Last year going through the mountains of West Virginia I would not have wanted a "half ton" to pull our ST29RL with.Â* I might still be trying to get up that 8% grade.Â* I was very happy to have the "three quarter ton" as I pulled up that steep grade with ease.Â* More importantly it was nice to have enough truck with bigger brakes toÂ*ease upÂ*going down grade.Â*

Â*

Of course, experience is the best teacher and no better way to find out than to pull the 30BH with the Tundra.Â* You'll quickly form your own opinion as to whether you're comfortable with that combo.

Â*

AndyV-

Am currently on week three of our first trip with the 30BH and Tudra 5.7 combo. Found out in the first 15 miles that the truck was good for the Colorado mountain passes. During the really steep sections for 3-4 miles it probably shifted down to 3rd or 4th gear but it still kept the speed at 55-60 going uphill at about 3800 RPM. Much better than with my previous Durango Hemi. What a relief! We're in southern Arizona where the towing is mostly flat...what a dream and am averaging 11-13 MPG. This is the second season for the 30BH and still flat love it after approximately 75 nights in it. Hope this helps, and happy camping!

We have a 27RB 2008 we have been very pleased with only a couple of small problems.

We upgraded from no slide to the great slide and size of our Sunset Trail. Glad to see this site and would like to see more Arkansas travelers.
