I received a post about dryer lint and also Fritos and I thought I would share my method of fire starters.

I take an empty cardboard egg cartoon (12 size with lid),stuff a layer of dryer lint (about half way) into each holder, then I add melted wax (either leftover candle or canning wax) a generous amount on all the holders. Then you fill the holders up again with lint. Add another generous amount of wax. Let cool and close the lid. They are easy to pack and great to use.

I know some of you already do this, but I thought some don't and they are so handy. Great memories and friendships are made sitting around a fantastic fire.

You are right. I have used sawdust and wax. You can also use 4-O steel wool and a 9V battery.

Guess I'm a little on the lazy side...charcoal lighter fluid works everytime for me; no fuss, no mess, just one match. But nice to know of the alternatives...thanks for sharing.

Roadflares work on those stubborn wet wood fires.Besides that I just buy the fire starters from walmart.
