I hope I am as well Lloyd. I do lock my hitch handle. I have trained myself to do a walk around whenever I stop somewhere. I suppose there could be that time, but I am diligent.
Laura likes to tease me about it but she also pays attention to the fact that I do it. I also have a bed cover when not hitched.

That's pretty scary, Lloyd! It almost sounds like the not so nice neighbor is driving down property values by just being there!

My husband puts a padlock on the lever you pull out. He also parks the rig with the front jacks down (even when hitched up) in order to take the weight off the truck and leaves a note on the steering wheel to put them back up before leaving. He does this when we boondock too.

Our biggest concern is someone stealing the top part of the hitch for metal recycling value, so if we are parked somewhere for any length of time, like in Florida, he takes it out and chains it to the bumper of the 5er.

One way the guy could have caught the neighbor would been to have a dash cam in the truck and leave it running.

You cannot be too careful!

Lloyd I read that when it was originally posted. I admit things can happen, however this seems to be an out of control vindictive neighbor. He did not do a "walk around" in the morning before he left. Secondly a pair of bolt cutters can remove the padlocks. So if they want it they will get it. I would imagine they would be in the thieves "tool kit"
I guess it comes down to what you think is best and it is not that expensive to do.
Maybe I will be a victim I just don't think so. Now don't come and steal my hitch to prove a point. Too each his own.

I bought the REESE lock tabs, and 4 keyed alike Master Lock pad locks. I put three locks on my Pull-Rite hitch and the forth lock I use to lock
my Surge Guard into the campground pedestal.

I remember that post by LONGHAULER I think I would have had to ask the police if they could get finger prints off that hitch.
