We will be staying in the Lake Charles area in early March, has anyone stayed in that area? Do you have any reccomendations for RV parks that are worthy and for those not so.

Bruce,

I guess this is Louisiana, Sam Houston Jones S/P is a old park that wasn't to large rig friendly but it's has been years I havent been there. I have heard of a Yogi Bear around also. I think Cowboy71 may be from there and may be along later. Not much help to u but beter than nothing lol

Here is what RV Park Reviews has for Lake Charles. It looks like the three at the bottom have the highest ratings.

We spent a night at the Yogi Bear Park back in 2010 on our way to DisneyWorld. Seemed like a nice place with clean showers and toilets.

Yogi Bear is quiet and nice and 2miles north of I-10 exit36, but kinda expensive, and Sam Houston Jones is nice and out of the way with really good nature trails but is in need of modernizing. But for a short stay I'd stay at ward-8 parish park (instead of turnig left at sign to Yogi Bear just keep going North about 1 mile to "T" at River Road then right about 1 mile to park on left) Fee is $12/night, all concretepull thru, very clean, next to river...

We have stayed at Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, La (about 20 miles from Lake Charles) five or six times over the last couple of years, a nice clean park with 100+ FHU pull thru sites, all paved. Very reasonable, less than $20 and sometimes free with our players card. Couple of interesting small towns in the area and one good Cajun restaurant we always eat at.

Coushatta. Though the shuttle to the casino proved to be a bit costly ;-)</span>

Well, no, the shuttle itself wasn't, but the trip "with the shuttle" to the casino was. That's what the smiley was there for, in my previous message :-)

We have stayed at both Whispering Hollow and Coushatta. We like them both. Whispering Hollow if you just want to stay the night and want a nice place. </span>Coushatta if you also want to gamble. (We usually head for the gambling......)</span>
