Anyone have advice on where to buy a new queen mattress for a towable rv? It's a new rv but the mattress doesn't seem very padded and might want to replace it one day soon, any advice on brand or where to purchase one and how much they generally cost?

You might want to look at a topper for your mattress. We got a 2 in. from overstock.com and that took care of it for us.

Is the topper foam or what is it made of? How much do they cost? Heavy or lite in weight?

Thanks

As far as heavy or lite-- I guess I would say it's not to bad. It doesn't affect the lifting shocks to much. So I'm satisfied with that.
Here is a site for you to look at. There is just about anything there you could want, if you decide to go that route.

If your bed is a Queen, remember to buy an RV Queen, not a regular queen. The RV Queen is the same width but a bit shorter than a home bed. I used a topper in three RVs so far and we've been very happy with them. The one we are using now has what they call "memory foam". It keeps the wife on her side!!

If you are buying a queen, measure your old one before you buy. RV's have two types of queens, a short queen that is 60x75, and a standard queen that is 60x80. Our cruiser has the standard queen.

Ours is a regular queen also, it was one of the things on our "shopping list", our last had a short queen. We added a 2" memory foam from wally world and a mattress cover/heater with dual controls.

That full size 60 x 80 queen was one of the main factors in buying our ST.

I have a memory foam mattress at home and really like the memory foam topper. Ours came from Costco but there are several sources.

We just threw...well with a lot of sweat...our Verlo mattress from the house. It is big, heavy and minimizes the space between the end of the bed and the wall, but it is SO worth it. Sleep better in the camper than I do in the house....

Thank you for the good advice... Sounds like a memory foam topper is the way to go.

I second (or third) the foam topper. We got a 2" queen from walmart. Fits our zinger queen mattress pretty well and was less than $100 (I think more like $60). I love it and am thinking about getting one for the house as well.

Got a 4 inch (I think)topper from Kohl's with memory foam and down. They run crazy deals, don't pay fuull price for anything especially with after Christmas sales. My wife made me buy her a new mattress for thehouse afterwords. I had to get rid of my waterbed of over 30 years. Well, I've got to keep the peace

If you really want to go deluxe, you could get a RV queen "Sleep Comfort" air adjustable bed. My wife can only sleep on a water bed or an aid bed. Since a water bed is out of the question, I only had one option. We sleep like babies both at home and in the camper.

My mattress is a short queen which is 60x74, most store brand memory foam toppers are 60x80 or bigger, wasn't recommended to cut it to size. I also noticed there were a couple of companies that make them specifically for RV size mattresses but more expensive. How thick should I get one, some are 2 inch, 3 or 4 inches thick. I know the sheets have to fit as well once that topper is on, any advice on sheets and how they fit on these short queen beds in RV's? Especially with the topper on.

Thanks

Baloney gaflyer. Cut it to size. It's only foam and you can't hurt it.

Worst night sleeping since we've been married (35 years) was on one of those sleep number beds at a B&B. Different strokes for different folks.

Depends on which one you buy, some have more than just foam... some can be cut, some cannot... I don't like those sleep number beds at all....

A true memory foam mattress is not "filled". That being said I have a hybrid at home so I do know what you're talking about.

The thicker the foam the softer the experience. Since I like a firmer bed to sleep on, I purchased a 2" topper. If you like a softer bed then you will want to go thicker.

We like a firm matress and would like to go with a continuous coil matress in our 2012 Slingshot 27BH. It is a short queen and they are available at sleep county in Ontario. However, with the 27BH the entrance into the bedroom is blocked by the entertainment unit and I think it will be very tight to get a stiff mattress into the bed area. Has anyone had any experience with putting a coil mattress into their RV...
