Storage under the Couch

Has anyone tried taking the kickplate off of the couch to access the storage underneath rather than lifting the scissor portion each time?

I haven't looked closely but was wondering how easy it would be to remove that front plate of the couch.

I took the front panel you are describing off and reattached it by putting hinges on the top of it and attaching them to the frame so I could just lift it up. To open it fully you have to lift up the seat part of the couch a little but that is only to open the front panel wide open. Works great!
