3612 Fresh Water Fill When Remote Camping

We are dry camping and need to add water from 5 gal water jugs. Anyone know how this can be done on our 2014 3612?

Crossroads Customer Service advised that it has to be filled using the Fresh Water hose connection in the utility box. That just seemed impossible and it was. . We were under the impression that the antifreeze fill process could be used to fill the fresh water tank, however, it didn't work either unless we were doing something wrong.

If you have access to an auto store and a Lowes, you can get a big funnel and some clear neoprene tubing. Sanitize both and insert tube and pour into funnel. I have a couple funnels that I use that will hold a gallon of water, ie: big funnels.

OR you could use a hand type transfer pump, properly sanitized of course. Such as this one.

In the long term, if you have a generator, you could use a small utility pump, an emergency sump pump to be specific. as I have stated in other threads, that is what I use to pump antifreeze through the trailer, via the city water port, but you also could simply run it into the fresh water fill port also.

I take ours and stick it in a bucket of sodium dichlor (pure chlorine, no additives like household bleach has) and let it recirculate for a little while to sanitize it. It will heat the water up hot so only run it a short time. then as long as you keep it sanitized you will be good to go. Simply fill a sanitized bucket with water and pump it in.

How about a water bladder (60 to 150 gal) and a transfer pump. You put bladder in back of truck take it and fill it after you just roll it up to store.

Thanks for the suggestions!!!

The fresh water fill valve on this rig is about 5 1/2 ft off the ground. Using a hose and small funnel the other day required 2 step stools and a wife. Just not very convenient. I like the idea of a pump so I will pick one up in Phoenix this week and give it a try over the weekend.

I will let you know how it works.

Check a Farm Store near you. They usually have pumps.

I purchased a water pump from Amazon. Wayne PC2 115 Volt 340 GPH Portable Transfer Water Pump kit. I used it this weekend and was successful in transferring 30 gallons of water from water jugs into my rig. The pump is electric, turned generator on, plugged in pump and it transferred water within about 10 mins. One person job!!!!!!

Thanks for all the responses!!!

After reading the horror stories about the Artis pump, I replaced mine with a ShurFlo. I mounted the Artis to a small piece of plywood, attached a cigarette lighter plug and a couple of lengths of water hose. I now use it to pump water from portable containers into the tank fill of my 5er.

This is a great idea!! I have a spare "old" pump laying around. I think I will rig up the same thing.
