LED Headlight upgrade

Just installed the H13 LED conversion kit for my '13 F150. What a difference. I can actually see at night now. Installation was simple and was plug and play. Bought it off of Ebay for $80.00.
Neighbor was so impressed that he ordered one for his F350 and his F150.

Definitely worth the price.

Quite often. Tomorrow will be a 3 hour ride down to Baltimore and 3 hour return in the evening. Happens often. Now I can see all the 18 wheelers in front of me.

How are they for "oncoming" cars? Just curious since a lot of cars headlights already seem very bright like the high beams are on....

Unlike the HID lights that are usually in the 6500k and higher range, these are only 5000k. I do have them aimed slightly low to compensate for the 2" drop in bed when 5th wheel is attached. No one has "flashed" me yet.

Lloyd, you have the F150, I'm sure your stock headlights are terrible also. My buddy's '12 F150 was terrible also. He ordered a set also.

Just like changing the bulb. It installs the same way, only additional device is a small controller that mounts anywhere behind the light fixture. Took about 15 minutes a side.

Can you be our guinea pig for this ..like to drive with them for awhile and let us know how they're working out.

Just gunshy..I had a bad experience with the xenon bulbs from ebay years ago, did a lot of damage as they got too hot and melted the lamp assembly.

I wonder how hot these little guys get?

They have a fan, and are LED lights. I thought LED were suppose to be cool as in NOT HOT, so why would they need a fan...

That's a common misnomer. Higher wattage LEDs can get real hot.

I'd like to know what happens when that fan fails. Pulling out my engineering hat, either the fan or the LED will eventually fail after x hours.

If you look, you can see the cooling fins/heat sinks on the bulbs.

From my experiences with LEDs, that is correct. I've had one or two failures in the house with higher wattage Led bulbs. They must have lost the fan. They got pretty hot and that was the smoking end of them.

Just like any other headlight bulb they will eventually fail. It says they're good for 50000 hours. They do have a 2 year warranty. Time will tell.
Thet do sell replacement bulbs.
