Rear bumper brace for bike rack

My bike rack bounced quite a bit while traveling so I welded some 1 1/2 steel tubing under it. The welds were pulling away from the bumper the way it was originally done. It is so much stronger now.

I suppose you are out of the warranty period ???

Just to making sure others know that any welding on the frame probably would void warranty ...

The welding is on the bumper bracket not the frame.

Any modification of the bracket or frame will void the warranty.

I also added a receiver welded to the frame day one. I carried a bike rack the first year. This year I had a platform modified with a second receiver 2' above the first. Carried a Honda 3000 on the platform with the bikes above. Great set up.

We were going to add a bumper rack this year, but our dealer told us they no longer recommend it and said the bumpers are not designed for it. If you do it and damages the bumper, it is on your hands.

So, we didn't add the rear bumper Rack. Instead we are going to be adding the from mount rack, which will attach directly to the frame.

Hi,

In my case, the dealer has bolted two bars to the frame and welded a hitch to it. Actually, after 10 000kms, it is great for 4 bikes...but I'm still binding the rack to limit the up-and-down Sway

Here are pics:
