I am looking for some good campground recommendations for the Adirondacks in Upstate New York. It is a pretty big area - seems to break down into 7 sub regions, etc. With this being my first trip out there, I have no idea what is the best area or location to get the "sampler platter" effect of all that is Adirondacks.

For hookups, I would at least like electric. I would also like to feel somewhat "isolated in the wilderness" - rather than feel like I am in a parking lot. Any suggestions or recommendations would be most appreciated!

Jim

If you tell us what you would like to see we can probably come up with campsites. Most state sites in our area are forever wild, witch means no amenities.

Where I have stayed:
North Pole Resorts - stay in the 100 acre woods section - near Lake Placid. Very large sights in the woods - full hook ups.

Higley Flow State Park - about 10 miles outside of the Park. Great place for canoeing and kayaking
Three loops have electric (30 amp).

DEC Sites usually do not have hook ups
Rollins Pond and Fish Creek (DEC Parks) - no hook ups Great place for canoeing and kayaking - does get pretty full in the summer.

Cranberry Lake Park (DEC Park) - no hook ups

See you a Harley Rider - I ride a 2009 Ultra Classic

PM me for more info

Thanks for the recommendations!

CWIT - we are just looking to find some nice isolated type campgrounds where we really fel like we are in the wilderness. Also like hiking, biking, and canoeing.
