My Zinger RV dealer has suggested I buy my torsion bar from him. He said it is a "weight distribution hitch with 800 lbs weight distribution bars". The brand is "RV PRO" and it has an "adjustable receiver". I really dont understand any of this stuff, so could someone comment on this product for me? Is this what I would need for my 2012 Ford F-150 truck (I will be towing a Zinger trailer 26BH). Is this the type of hitch/bar that we will need to remove each time we back up as some have indicated?
It appears the model offered by your dealer does not include the sway control device and the 800# bars are on the light side. In addition, you normally have to release the device before backing up or risk damage. IMO, the Reece Dual-Cam or Equalizer hitch with 1200 - 1400 bars is a much better option; although it will probably be more expensive. There a several other postings on this forum with lots of information from users of various models that may be helpful to you also.
We have an EZ Lift round bar...1000#. I agree - 800# isn't right. We have the 2 "torsion" bars and a friction "sway" bar. The sway bar gets removed prior to backing.
We may investigate a dual cam or something similar in future. The Reese dual cam setup is highly praised on this site - many with your travel trailer model. Ask your dealer about price on that hitch...it is mostlikely worth the extra cost.

I have the Equal-I-Zer and cannot say enough good about it either. It is everything everyone said it would be...and easy to adjust if that need arises. I cannot be happier with it. JMHO

I have never removed my load leveling bars when backing. I do remove the friction anti-sway bar because backing allows a much tighter turn than and forward going turn and could bend the sway bar. If what I'm doing is not "best practice" somebody should let me know but, to my knowledge, there is no reason to remove the load leveling bars to back up. You can't go wrong with going heavier with the bars and will allow you to upgrade to a heavier unit if you ever do. If you don't have any now and are making a choice, I would go with heavier.
