air conditioner vent flow

This is just a little bit of information that I found out on the air flow of each air conditioner in the 2014 Rushmore lincoln (prior floorplan). I would guess some would already know this but just in case some don't, here you go.

The zone 1 air conditioner which is not visual and is located on roof above bedroom will come out of all vents except the 3 vents located in kitchen above stove, refrigerator and above front room TV.

The zone 2 air conditioner which is found in living room has a main vent on unit but if you close the main vent, the air will flow through all vents except for the vent in bathroom and the vent above the bed. By the way, if you close off the main vent the unit is significantly quieter.

I think it is kind of weird that there is vents that work no matter what unit is on but a few that only works depending on which unit is on. By the way, my unit only has 3 vents in living room. The is two vents on the side closest to the kitchen but only one vent near front of camper. This vent is between the 2 sofa's. Does anyone have a vent in the front of the living room on the tv side?

Not really that weird, the conventional layout described by Dometic is basically a double 'H', meaning long vent runs on either side of the rig with the two A/C units in the middle feeding both runs. With that setup, either A/C will blow cool air thru all of the vents. However, it isn't uncommon for the RV manufacturer to break one of the runs, especially in fifth wheels due to the roof transition and other roof obstacles like vent pipes, shower skylight, etc.

On my Cruiser, there is the second short run off the main A/C but none off the bedroom A/C. With a total of 5 vents and just 3 on the common run, this layout does not meet Dometic's specifications. According to Dometic such deviations require approval from Dometic. I requested proof of such approval from both Dometic and Crossroads with no response from either. This is just another reason so many owners experience inadequate cooling.

Called Crossroads. They sent out 2 sets out ceiling vents. Headed to Home Depot bought a hole saw to match the vent size. Its a little spendy. But its worth the cost for more cold air.

I was wondering how you found out where the vents were? Then it dawned on me. I have the perfect, maybe, tool for that. Infrared Camera. It will be here today and I should be able to trace the ductwork using it when the AC is running.

Now to get in touch with Crossroads.

Just followed the H pattern on the ceiling. Took the vent covers off helps to look at the ducting pattern. I added the vents between the lights.

Nice Job. I assume that fan is a factory install? If so, wonder if CR has one I could get for my ST25RB? Anyone know.
