Water system

Hi,
We have a Cruiser 31RE and we have always had hookups so used the city water. Recently we were without hookups and we had problems with water using the holding tank. We just didn't seem to get any pressure after the initial burst and it would trickle away to nothing and the pump would keep running. I would get nervous and turn it off, only turning it on when we needed water.It seems to me that there is air getting into the system somewhere. Is there a valve or something that we need to turn off to switch between water systems?? We are going to be going dry camping for a week and I would like to get this figured out before we go or I'll be back at the pump with my water container!!

Check your winterizing valve by the pump that you use for pulling in antifreeze .

Look for any kinks in the hoses going to each port of the pump. My intake hose was kinked.

Took some pictures for you:

On our unit - under the island is where the pump is located. There is an inlet valve for the pump and a winterizing valve. I would check these first.

Also - when you turn on the pump sometimes it takes a minute or so for it to prime itself and start water flow.

Some pumps have a suction filter the screws on/off - don't think it wold be plugged but you never know. As you can see CrossRoads did not put a inlet filter on our pump. I had previous RVs with the filter and I never found much if anything in it. The pump is a Revolution 4008 RV By-Pass Pump.

Yes, it's very possible for that filter to be plugged. Mine was. There is crap in the tanks from drilling holes in them that doesn't get cleaned out any better then they clean up the saw dust and chips all over in the camper.
