Campgrounds to stay cool in the summer in the southeast

We live in Atlanta and would like to go camping throughout the summer. Do you have any suggestions of favorite campgrounds within 3-4 hours of here that stay cool, probably in the mountains?

Check this one out, located just 2 hours north of you in Helen, Ga. One of my favorite places to visit. I have not personally visited this park but I found it on the Good Sam page and it seems pretty nice. May have to try it out myself if I get the chance. Bonus, tubing in Helen is a blast, especially after a hard rain!

I really like the area around Lookout Mtn. Chattanooga is not that far from you. Beautiful mountain area.

Tremont Outdoor Resort in Townsend, Tennessee. It is about 20 minutes south of Pigeon Forge. Townsend is a small town right at the entrance to the GSM National Park. Town ordinances don't allow a lot of retail development, so all the businesses there are just mom and pop stores. There is a bicycle path that runs the entire length of Hwy 321 through the town so you can bike around town without being out in the traffic. Tremont Resort campground is right at the entrance to the park. It is very shady, the Little River runs right behind it and if you get a river front site you will have a covered deck by the river. The river is stocked with trout and you can trout fish. The river is also great for tubing. Tremont is very shady and clean. I would recommend section B, as it is newer with better utilities, although it isn't quite as shady as section A.

Check it out on the 'net. If you don't like Tremont, there are several other campgrounds in and around Townsend. There is a KOA right next door that is nice, but the sites are pretty cramped. Big Meadow RV Campground is fairly new and really nice, but it is right out in the open with no shade. It might be alright in the fall, but you'd burn up in the summer.
