Has anyone added a thicker piece of plywood under the MasterQueen bed/storage area?
I was looking the dealer looking at my soon to be 290QB and noticed thatvery thin plywood is used as support for the mattress and storage lid. I'm sure it was for weight savings, but it seems too thin to safely support two adults long term.

Also has anyone found thicker bedding to use for the bunks? I was thinking of buying egg crate toppers or memory foam and cutting it to size and placing underneath them for added support/comfort.

I have not experianced any sagging or cracking due to the thickness of the plywood. I would not worry about it unless it becomes an issue. AlsoI have not read of anyone else having problems with this either. get a foam topper or a better mattress and rest easy

Below is what some of us did to prevent the bed platform from sagging. It works very well and is easy to do.

Looks like crossroads changed there design, at least on the Sunset trails. On mine there is a verticle piece of plywood deviding the storage space into two halfs and this vertical piece adds plenty of support for the plywood hinged top, which is now one piece with no seam.

From what I recall the platform is divided in half with shorter hydraulic arms to lift the front half. The back half is screwed down. They plywood was just very thin, which is what lead to my question.I'll take pics on Sat when I do the PDI.

Thanks for the info and advice on making it stronger. I'll postmy solution once I get it done.

Crossroads contacted me and sent me 2 -60# shocks to replace the single 80# on it now . The single 80 # just barely holds the bed up when all bedding is on .
Check to make sure you have more that an 80 # shock.

There is plenty vertical support under ours. Plywood is plenty thick. We have two struts but they will not hold it in the up position. We added a 3 inch cool memory foam and it made a world of difference.

Was wrong there's only one strut under my mattress and the plywoodbarely looks to be 1/2". It justseems weaker than I'd expect. The strut holds it up okay, I'm more worried the plywood will over time start tobow on the edges that overhang the box/frame. I'll post pics tonight.
