Has anyone else had issues with the factory installed tires on your rig? I have a Elevation 3612. Less than 150 miles on it. 110 just hauling it home from dealer. I made it 20 miles from home and had a blow out. didn't even know it happened until I saw smoke coming out from under camper on opposite side. Tire was completely gone, camper was on the rim.......destroyed the rim.....back set of tires, second axel . Yes maybe I picked up something on the road......why didn't the front tire go first....I have a trip coming up from Michigan to Tennessee...Im really concerned theE load rated tire is adequate for the weight and size of this camper.Oh and the camper handled GREAT on 3 tires.....Had no idea I had lost a tire until I pulled over. Happy Memorial Day weekend .

There should be a code on the tires that tells the date they were manufactured. RV manufacturers have been known to put tires that are several years old on new trailers.

Do your self a favor, buy E rated LT or higher tires. All ST tires Are made in China with the exception of some Marathon's. I put a new set on two years ago and had a blow out on the new tires (ST) with in 100 miles got back and made them exchange those tires for other. 7 Weeks ago the tread came off of the front took out the rear tire and cause 5500 dollars of damage to the fifth wheel To make matters worse, CrossRoads will not sell parts to the RV dealer that has to do the repairs. They have to order them through a CrossRoads dealer that will not return their phone calls and is 175 miles away.

One reason I can think of why rear and not front. Lets say it was a large sheet metal screw. The front tire hits it and sets it on end for the rear tire. ??

Wonder if the tires were inflated to the correct pressure. Have mine for the second year - probably only 6000 miles on the tires - planning a trip out west this summer.

Check lug nuts and tire pressure prior to every trip to and from the destination.

Another point on front vs. rear: is your unit towing level? If it were towing nose high, it would stand to reason that you are loading the back tires more than the front, and might make them more susceptible to overheating. As someone else mentioned, make sure you are inflating them properly. If the tire says it is rated for 80 psi, then you need to put 80 psi in them cold. Under inflation is the single biggest cause of tire failure on any vehicle, including RVs.

Todd,
When I picked my new unit up April 15th...my dealer not only checked the air in the trailer tires...he checked...and added air to my truck tires...now, not knowing how if this is your first unit, what kind of speed were you driving? I don't drive over 60...these tires aren't rated for high speed...just saying.

Where in Owosso are you? I lived in Corunna back in 1979 and worked in Owosso...for the Old Ann Arbor RR. I will be there the last week of July...staying at Covenant to see some old friends in Owosso and my son who now lives in Clio.

Jim

It should be a crime allowing these st tires to be installed. Although our 3612 have 7k pound axles, do yourself a favor and move to a quality lt tire and put your mind at ease.I required my dealer to move my xps ribs from my old trailer to new trailer before it left the lot.

Crossroads replaced my rim and tire. Warrenty department said it was a fast responce to say yes from factory. I bet there are many issues with these tires. Im replacing all 4 and selling them.
