Would I be correct in assuming a 2014 would not need this kit?

Wonder if this applies to the Cruiser fifth wheel - I have one external switch for the rear stabilizers - manufactured in July 2011. Guess I will give them a call.

Just received my "kit" today. All I got was two 6A breakers, spare wires about a foot long, 5 or 6 wire connectors, wire eyelets, some hard to read instructions, and a bunch of screws, nuts, etc. No switches though. I got two of these kits (for front and back) but each kit contained the above. Did anyone recently receive the kits, and if so did they receive new switches as well?

I rx'd mine about 2 weeks ago. 2 sets in 2 brown bubble wrap envelopes, complete with 2switches. (which look identical to old ones by the way, I thought Lynn had said they were new & improved switches!)

Anyway, I decided to remove both outside switches,& switch harness altogether....leaving just the motors directly connected to electronic control panel inside trailerand no more switches in the equation. I only use the remote to lower stabilizers anyway, as the switches are only a pain in the butt causing motors to burn out. This way no more worries. Electronic panel has fuses for motors anway. I really didn't want to wire all that extra "stuff" in envelope. I think it would just be an eyesore.......and switches would still corode anyway. If I was to keep switches outside I would wire them in grey PVC boxes like another member did & posted pictures of his work. I find remote involves no bending over, reaching for that switch(call me lazy...but that's what attracted us to this trailer....all the "automatic" things).

If you want those switches, I would call Lynn at Crossroads and ask him to send them. He really seems to care.

Have a good one!Edited by: Tonemeister

I am new to the forum and looking at buying a 270 bunk house and i have also noticed some negative remarks. Thanks for the good report and giving me a little piece of mind.

Just got a call today from Janet at CrossRoads wondering if I had received my switch upgrade kit yet. When I said I hadn't yet she apologized for the delay and said she would get them out right away. I was pretty empressed that they were following up on the order without any input from me.

does this upgrade only apply to Sunset trails? I noticed my switch has been 'sticking' a few times lately. I have to run them down a touch to get it 'unstuck'.

Well I snapped a photo of my registration plate in the RV, and gave Cross Roads customer service a call to explain my jack switches were sticking in the "on" position.
Having the photo of the serial number just helped me remember it and make it easier to look up the last 8 digits.
Anyway, great customer service rep. looked up the serial number and informed me the parts are on the way. I don't mind making the correction myself. Will likely just use a box to mount the switch. Then I can make sure it truly is water resistant,(if not water proof).

So great job Crossroads.

thanks

I just called and Crossroads advised or told me to go through my dealer. No luck on getting parts shipped directly to me. Thanks for the information and heads up.

Anyone have a picture of the contents of their kit? I received mine, but don't recall seeing any 6A fuses. (trailer in storage, so can't look now)
Switches look and function like the old ones - kind of sticky. How can you tell if they are the 'new and improved' versions?

thanks

The new ones are supposed to be better sealed from water intrusion. I don't know if they are or not, however I talked to Crosssroads and have the new ones on my trailer (built after June of 2012) They seem to be holding up. No problems yet. The fuse is the self resetting type screwed to the trailer frame next to each stabilizer motor. It is not part of the upgrade kit. The same type of fuse is used to protect your battery and also used on some slideout wireing. (two terminal post on a block) very prone to corrosion.

Does anyone know if this also applies to the 2014 Sunset Trail Reserve? My switches are on the bottom part of the skirt and seem like they would fail due to water and dirt. I was thinking of actually moving them much like Harley did....

Rear Stabilizer

We have had our 25RB for a year now and haven't had that much trouble out of it. Saw on here about the NEW switches and asked dealer and he knew nothing about it. He said he would inquire and never heard anything from him and that was like 6 months ago. I dropped the issue since I wasn't have any troubles out of them. Now took camper out for the first trip since winter and while relaxing by camper kept hearing this strange noise and found the rear stabilizer trying to move. Disconnected while camping to keep from burning up the motor. Taking to dealer tomorrow to look at that and the LED lights in awning. Also saw on here the issue with them. Now I have 7 LED's out, but I called them Saturday and they said that would be covered. Also outside shower is leaking, must have cracked over the winter. I winterized it really good, but I guess not good enough. Wanted to put that out there to add my 2 cents in there.

The improved switches were installed on trailers after June 2012

Thanks, I appreciate the reply. I may still add some weatherproof boxes just to be safe.
