after using a truck camper for 4 years, my wife and i decided it was time for something bigger. we looked at various fifth wheels over the past couple of months and just stumbled across the sunset trails fifth wheels at a dealer about an hour from our home. we loved the floorplan since the bunks fold up and leave a nice large room for the kids. later when the kids are gone we will remove the bunks and use the room as a reading area, etc. we had a couple of small issues initially with a lock and sink trim, but crossroads took care of it without issue. so far it's a great company and based on the construction of the camper i feel like we made the right decision. glad we were able to find a leftover 5er in this floorplan as they apparently don't make it anymore. whew...that was lucky.

thanks for the replies. i did want to mention that i find it odd that there is absolutely no reference to the sf29bh model 5er anywhere on this website nor forum. did i get the only one that was made? a google search yields one for sale in canada and that is all. weird. we like it though so i guess that's all that matters.

No matter what brand you buy you're going to have some type of issue. I'm of the belief thatmost of the "small issues" are caused more by the terrible shape of our interstates than factory workmanship.

The few small issues we've had with our own with our new 5er have been just that; none-the-less, it only took a phone call to CrossrRoads, and to our dealer, and we were good to go. Certainly can't say the same about our last 5er, which wasn't a CrossRoads...lesson learned! Welcome to the forum.

Congrats on the new 5er!! I believe the Sunset trail is now the Cruiser CTX line and they may or may not have the exact samefloorplan!! There isnt really that much differance between the Crueser and Sunset trail your studs are smaller and anything that might have saved weight goes in to the Sunset Trail and Ctx lines!! Anything crossroads is a fine choice!!!!

wow, thanks again everyone for the responses. we really are excited by the purchase and are looking forward to getting out and camping some!!! fwiw part of the draw to the sunset trail was the light weight for it's size. i have a 3/4ton hd, but with the 6.0 small block i didn't want to be topping out on it's limits. having a 7-8k lb trailer puts it right in the sweet spot for towing. on our way home we had a 4% grade and were able to hum along at 55 in trailer mode with nothing more than a down shift. add another 2k lb to the weight on the trailer and i'm not sure that towing would have been much of a pleasure. had i known we were going into the world of 5er's i'd have gotten a diesel. but, hey we only paid 25k for the camper so we'd have probably bought it no matter what tow vehicle we had!!!
