Barb & I are planing a trip to FL. to visit her brother. Then back up through TN. to see some friends. Never having been down that way I'm a little concerned with going through Nashville and Atlanta. Our route looks like this----- Pickup 39 in southern WI. run it down into IL. to 74 to 57 to 24 to 75 which I'll take all the way to her brothers place. Any thing to be concerned about as far as going through Nashville and Atlanta, or should I look at going around them?

We make this trip several times a year with and without the RV (we go fromNorth Atlanta to St. Louis)we leave 57 at Mt. Vernon, IL.Watch your lanes in Nashville they can be confusing. There is Crossroads dealernear Manchester TN that has some of my money. About 2 hrs south of Nashville is Mount Eagle, TNithas a mountain witha 6 percentgrade. Then there is Atlanta. Depends what time you get there but traffic can be a bear, I always take 285 west and pickup 75 on the south side usually not too bad for traffic. Usually smooth sailing past Macon, GA.

There is a nice little camp ground in Calvert City, Ky and a nice KOA in Manchester TN. We have used both of them.

Or you could just catch I 55 south to I 10 and over to Florida You can skirt St Louis by taking the southern by pass you will have to go through Memphis depending on the time a day not too bad thru Jackson down to take US 49 south to I10 Hoover will keep you spot open at the flying J

Depending on where in Florida you plan to stop at.If you are going to the pan handle, there are other ways that are better than going thru Atlanta. If you are going on down toward Orlando or that direction, you picked a route as good as any I guess.Like the others said,Atlanta is a place to go thru in very very early morning or very early on Sunday. I always go stright thru town unless its 3 to 5 in the evening than I try to be anywhere else but in town.

dja29RK---Thanks, that is kind of the way I figured it might be.

Frank--- How many extra miles do you think that would add?
It's a thought tho.

FB1965---Thanks, we are going down towards Orlando, midway into the Peninsula from there.

Atlanta is a piece of cake as long as it is not rush 2 hours. Nashville, as mentioned, can be confusing, but if you listen to the GPS you can get right through.

Monteagle, north of Chattanooga is a lot better than it used to be. Not really a problem, and there is a big rest area right near the top.
