Central Vac system

Added a InterVac system to our 335SS. Used a newer model RMH120 because it has two outlets. One in the camper and one in the basement storage that I can use to vacuum out our truck using the same hose and tools.
Placed the unit in the front basement storage so I could use the 110 outlet already there. Also makes it easy to replace the vacuum dust bag.

John, you've done some really nice mods in your rig.

Did you have time to use it much last year after all that work?

Thanks Lloyd,

yep we spent 92 total nights in it last year, about 7200 miles.

John,

I am planning to install a central vac like you did and we have very similar floor plans on our fifth wheels, so I am basically going to copy what you did (hope you dont mind)
I have not purchased the vac yet, so I am looking at all the options.
When you installed in the pass thru storage, did you have to recess the unit into the common wall or just mount it to the wall? From the looks of the location, it appears to be directly behind the power inverter.
Did you consider the vac pan option?
Any issues you want to share about the install?
I dont have a receptacle in the storage area, so I plan to tap into a plug on the outside wall for power.

Thanks, Darryl

Morning Darryl,

I didn't have to recess the vac in that panel but we have plenty of room behind so I just carefully cut it out using the pattern provided. You can do either with this model I didn't want it sticking out into the basement storage and I have power just above it. Its about 2 feet from that basement panel to the inside location and I did have to drill a couple of 2" holes for the hose and wire. If you mount it flush after you cut out the opening you have better access to drill the holes and run the wire and hose. You can see from the top picture I took the top panel out on the inside below the closet and put in a shelf, it was just dead space, this allowed more room for me to work inside.

I did think about the floor pan or sweeper and still could ad it later but this vac has a lot of suction and with the tools in the kit it works great. I did order a longer hose so I could go from the basement hose connection to my truck.

Thanks for the info...and really appreciate you posting this. I was going with another brand, but like the idea of American made product and it will actually be cheaper.

Central Vac system

Found a little time before the latest cold front hits Texas to install my Intervac Central vacuum system. Again many thanks to JRen for posting pics and info. Here are a few pis of my install. I did not have the vertical clearance, so I built a small box and mounted it horizontally in the storage area. One outlet services the storage area and the other the interior. If I every need to remove it everything can be accessed thru different panels. The Dremel Multimax tool was invaluable for the project. I also added a dedicated 15 amp plug for the vac and anything else in the storage area.

You two guys have a nice mod there.
If my wife was to see this I know what I would be doing when it warms up.
