Water on floor

I have noticed the last couple of times when I opened the slide to go inside the trailer, there was a small puddle of water on the floor right in front of the bathroom door, about midway between the fridge and the opposite wall. I "assume" that when the slide is in, that rain is somehow finding its way past the seals. I have checked and can find no obvious area around the seal that might let in water. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed anything like this. It is a very small amount and is just puddled on the floor on the linoleum. The amount this morning was maybe 1" by 2.5". Still, I would like to find the leak and stop it. Have noticed no water at all when camping with the slide extended, even in heavy rain.

Would there happen to be some water left on top of the slide and maybe dripping down when in? Look on top of the slide when I to make sure it is dry.

I thought of that, but it has been several weeks since I buttoned it up and winterized. And it was dry when I put in the slide. Bummer.

You should be able to determine if the water is leaking onto the top of the slide when it is in. When you open the slide, apart from the water on the floor, if there is evidence of water on the side of the slide before it is fully opened then there is the problem. Mine did the same. In fact if you check the top of the slide before you extend it, after a rain, then the top seal(s) are the problem. The dealer said the screws on the exterior corners of the slide were too long and were pushing in on the bulb seal. He ground them off flush. Also, make sure when closing the slide that you hold the switch until the slide stops on its own. Mine hasn't leaked since. If it does I am going to install a 2" gutter just above the slide.

LLoyd, the AC unit is at least 3 feet forward of where the water is.

p4lrjfd, I checked the screws at the corner and they are pretty flush. Once I get back from the trip I have planned over the next week, I'll check the seals out after the next rain. I did just climb back up and visually inspected the gaskets again and still didn't see anything. Of course, water can find its way in a very small opening, as we all know. Oh, and I do hold in the switch until the slide stops on its own.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

hi dlwilliams 48, I have trouble with my slide when in leaks. Had it back to dealer several times. This was more than a puddle. Crossroads is taking it back to their facility. It has been leaking for some time. Found the outside wall is bowed. They already replaced the side wall and window. It was starting to delaminate. Have dealer check the walls

Wayne, it is only a very small amount. However, it ha been raining for a few days before my camping trip and the slide was out to facilitate packing. The day we left the sun was out but the slide was still pretty wet. When we got to the campsite and put the slide out, there was a LOT of water on the floor. None when we left so I have to assume that it all came from the slide. Not sure how to prevent that because it would be difficult to dry off the slide completely. And to top it all off, apparently I have water getting in the front storage again, and running under the panel to get under the bed. If it isn't one thing it is another. I put some more sealing tape on top where the last leak was and hopefully that will stop it.

dlwilliams48, Mine only leakes when slide is in. because of the bowed wall. It wont seal. I had trouble with my front cap leaking. It leaked three different times. They finally replaced front cap. Still leaked. Found out water was leaking thru one of the marker lights. I am getting really inpatient with crossroads. The dealer has had the unit since 2nd week of October, they still had not picked it up to take it back. I keep calling them every week to get information. Went to check on it at dealer, and took out all the linens. The whole unit and everything in it smella really musty

Slide leaks is nothing to just brush off, they can be very serious. You need to have this attended to before the warranty runs out, if it is still under warranty. If it is not under warranty, then you should have it attended to before it gets worse and more expensive to fix.

Our bedroom slide leaked but we were unaware of the situation until it was too late. We had to have the slide almost completely rebuilt. The dealer did not discover the full extent of the problem, we had to take it back to the factory. It was in there for two whole days. Good thing it was still under warranty because it would have cost us a fortune. The cause was not enough sealant in the bottom of the slide.

Loneoak,All of my issues are under warranty. They are going to practicaly rebuild it.
Everything inside smells. I have consulted a lawyer about what i can do about this. I had it little over a year and it has been in the shop more than i have had it. Crossroads is taken their time picking it up from dealer. in the mean time it is still leaking

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope they get it fixed before camping season begins. On the bright side, they do a really good job at the factory, way better than any dealer can do.

Unfortunately, mine is out of warranty. We have had it for two years and it has the 1 year coverage. We still have 6 nights here camping before we head home, and there is a good chance of rain Friday. I guess I can see if the extra tape I put on stops the leak into the front storage. Not sure what I can do about the slide since it only seems to happen when the slide is in but at least I can make sure it doesn't leak when it is extended. Oh the joys of campers.

Don , the only quick fix for the leak when 'in' would be to add a slide topper. That will hide the problem but would stop leaks. Mine came with a topper , so I might have a problem like yours , but cannot tell.

We had water coming in the vent for the stove, it was not sealed on the top and it would go across the countertop and end up on the floor in front of the fridge, once we sealed it we did not have water on the floor anymore. Also the fridge would lead some water on the floor and then I noticed that the drain was not lined up to the hole and pushed it in tighter and we no longer had water on the floor that had leaked from the fridge. If you put anything in front of the cooling coils they will melt and you may end up with water on the floor in front of your fridge.

Thanks for those tips. I'll look carefully at those areas as well. We will be going home tomorrow and once I get unpacked I will start going over the thing with a fine tooth comb. Looks like if it were the vent though I would see it now while I am inside the trailer, after the heavy rain. I will check the drain though as that might seem more likely, once the fridge is turned off and things start to melt. Always something to keep life interesting.

Also on the fridge...look on the outside where the little drain hose goes into the small evaporator cup. Take the little bug plug out of the end and see if that makes it drain better. /sometimes that part plugs up. You can blow into the hose to see if everything is clear. If your fridge is set too cold the water in the drain tray might have frozen causeing the drain to freeze and tray overflow...Or run the hose out the cover to alllow water to drain outside.

it will leak if the rain is blowing towards the vent or a hard rain. We had quite a bit of water from this.

I noticed something similar under both my slides... but I truly believe it is simply condensation on the bottom of the slides. My truck had so much condensation on the roof this winter that when I drove it after sitting for about 3 weeks I thought it had a leak, but there was nowhere water could have gotten in and it had actually been warm sunny during the day but cold and damp at night the days before driving.

I will keep an eye on it however, just to make sure....
