We purchased a new 2011 CrossRoads SunsetTrialST29QBin July 2010 and it has the large slide. The last camper we had did not have a slide so I am not sure what to use as a lubricant and or if I should use anything. Preping for first trip this year. Any info will be grateful. Robert Hatfield

I'm not sure that CR recommends any slide lube or maintenance. What I do is slide a piece of cardboard on top of the slide out bars to protect the bottom of the slide. Then I brush the teeth to get any big chunks out, if there is any there. Next comes the WD-40 I usually wash it down pretty good with that then wipe off the drippings and over spray, let it dry so none gets on the carpet and should be good to go. I don't really think it needs to be lubed, but I feel better keeping the teeth clean that way.

I was told by Randy back when we bought our old Cruiser back in late 2004 to do it pretty much as Old Farmer said. He suggested having someone run the slide in and out about half way while I was spraying the slide motor gears and slide bar with WD-40 to flush out any gunk. Dry off any excess and close it up. Things may have changed since then but I have been following this procedure twice a year since then.

I don't get as detailed as brushing the teeth but I do spray them with lubricant once a year. I also don't use mine but 4 or 5 weekend outings per summer.

I use silcone on mine as it don't attract dust and dirt like the rest of the lubes and have not had any trouble. I have the wife run it in and out as I spray the heck out of both sliders as she does this and have not made a mess on the carpet.
