Original installers plugged something in and said all lights or working but can't test for electric brakes so you controller must be bad...is there someway to check ourselves?

You can check your brake wire with a voltmeter. My truck (GM) uses pulsating voltage so you need an analog meter (needle display not digital). Not sure how the Fords work. Clip a lead to the receptacle brake wire and ground the other lead. Have someone slide the lever.

My friend has a Ford pu and needs the trailer plugged in to make the brake light wire (blue) live. We tried testing the fuses and everything was ok. Once we plugged in the trailer it worked. What about trying another brake controller?
Hope you figure it out.

Ok, here's the weird update...son started checking wiring, then finally removed controller from dash. Checked wiring then replaced it in the dash and guess what, everything now works! Go figure...as soon as he replaced in dash it just started working. Thanks for the advice...

Glad you found the issue. Guess it was just a loose connection.
