All ocean front property has been bought up by the super wealthy, and many of these are foreigners. None of these people are Rv'ers. Common ordinary RV families are now pushed away from the coast. They say we have "public beach access" but they fail to provide ample parking in peak periods. There are some beach front campgrounds in North Carolina but they are very large with hundreds of campsites and this forces everyone to share a small portion of the beach. If you don't take your umbrella and chair to the beach by 8:00am you won't find room. I'm afraid ocean front camping has now become a thing of the past during peak season. We were told in a conversation a while back that all this property is too valuable to have "trailers" come in.

Foreign investors are buying up this country at an alarming rate! They actually get tax breaks for doing so. In Pigeon Forge Tenn. foreigners come in and buy a hotel. They get a tax break for a while due to "their investment and development." What most people don't know is these investors transfer the property to a "new owner" which is a close relative and now the "new investors" get the tax break.Edited by: Pull Dog

We have stayed at the Cape Hatteras KOAthe last 2 summers and even end of July/beginning of August tourist, we had a minimum of 20/25 ft in any direction of clear sand between us and the next folks. We usually had at least 30 to 40 ft of ocean to ourselves.

They took the hit of the hurricane and it tore the campground up pretty badly, I would imagine that it would be fixed before next summer though. There is another campground next door, with concrete pads that I hear is pretty nice also.

We'll we have stayed at Camp Hatteras Campground also for many many years, but since the NPS is taking over; the information I've recieved is there going to start charging $125.00 - $150.00 for beach access fees to drive to your favorite fishing spots. So, looking around for different places now. Kinda slaps you right in the face.
