I've been having trouble getting my fridge to start up on gas before a trip. I've had to restart it several times to get it going. This past trip I switched from my 1/2 to 1/4 full tank to my full tank then it started right up. Is this common to need a full tank to get the fridge going? On the 1/2 full tank I could see the fire on start up but a series of ticking kept going then it would shut down.
No it is not common. I assume the lines are purged of air? It takes two to three tries to get the fridge going after it has set for a while to get the air out - this is after I have the stove up and running first. After it is lit, can you turn it off and relight it right away? If there is no air in the line you might look at the switchable regulator.
Fire up the stove for a bit to purge some air before you try the fridge.
