Control Panel

This is yet another question by someone who is a new owner of the Crossroads Sunset Trail 300BH. On my control panel, there is a switch for a water pump, what is this for? Thank you in advance for any information.

It turns your pump on, so when you open the faucet and ask it to pump water from your water tank it can/will.
You don't need it on if you are hooked to city water.

Lloyd,

Thank you for taking the time to answer that for me. I guess I missed that part in the orientation. LOL.

Lloyd,

If you do not mind me asking. I am thinking about buying a 10K generator but someone was telling me that I should get one with an inverter instead. The generator that I have been looking at is a Duromax XP10000. Any thoughts?

I really don't see why you would need one that big.
Where would you haul it? That thing would run everything in your rig at the same time and probably your neighbors to. Let alone it probably is very noisy.

Lloyd,

We were advised that if we wanted to run whatever it is we wanted to simultaneously we would need to get something that is equal to our 50 amps times 120 volts = 6000 watts. This particular unit is about 72 decibels. That is funny about running our neighbors unit too but we would also use this type of unit for construction on our land as well. We just want to make sure that we have enough power for everything. Thoughts?

Well, you asked me----If you are on your own land, that would be OK. If you were in a campground parked next to me with it running, I would probably be knocking on your door.

It's to noisy for campground use in my opinion.
As far as running everything in your rig at the same time---that probably will never happen.

Lloyd's correct. Even at 72 dba that is a lot louder than the 49-58 dba the Honda makes. You will certainly annoy your fellow campers around you the the big generator.

For what it is worth, I have a single AC unit and can run everything stock in my trailer (lights, tvs, radios, AC) with an inverter at 2800/3100 peak with the exception of the water heater. I can't imagine you need 10K or even 6 K. You have multiple AC units?

RV 50 amp service is really 50 amps at 240V, so in reality 12KW. Too much weight, too much noise and excessive fuel consumption to generate more power than you really need 99% of the time. Buy a used, cheap, noisy generator for your construction and re-sell it when finished. Buy a small, quiet inverter unit for camping.
