Is there specific info you want? We will pick our GT26RL this coming Saturday. I won't know much more until then. Not sure where you're located...but the buying experience at Camper Clinic has been good so are.

Hi, we are going to talk to them about the GT24RL. We are in CT and have a dealer just down the street. We are very interested and believe the layout will be perfect for our family without having to buy a bigger truck to tow. We plan to tow with a Nissan Xterra

Sounds like you're on the verge to buy. We are going from an Airstream Basecamp to the GT26RL. The Basecamp was essentially a hard shell camper that could carry motorcycle/kayak or ATV. But it had no toilet (except for portable) or shower. We've enjoyed it for the last 3 years but are ready for a bit more comfort. I believe we will go camping much more with this product.

Picked up our GT26RL today at Camper Clinic II in Buda, Texas near Austin. Great Purchase experience. They gave us a complete walk throughwhich was very informative for a 1st timer for large travel trailer. I recorded most of it so I couldvalideate my memory! The trailer was in good shape except for the recent rain whcih made things a bit messy. They finished installing the weight distribution hitch,then I bought some essentials and we were on our way for the 150 or so mile ride home to Houston. The Buick Enclave with tow package pulled itwith no problem...exceptmpg went down substantially. Have in at home until tomorrow so we can do all the incidential like shelf lining etc. Can't wait to go out for our first camping experience in this gem. I've got pics, but need to figure out how to post them here. If any in receipt of this can guide me, I'll get them posted quickly.

Congratulations on your new purchase! Can I ask where in CT you got it? We looked at a GT23CK model last weekend but we're nervous about the fact we have a minivan with a tow weight of 3500 lbs. Not sure we can actually pull that trailer, although the dealer insisted we could. I will be looking forward to your pictures

I'm not the CT folks that are looking at a GT24. I got the GT26RL here in Texas. See the link with pics attached. I don't know the weight of the GT23RL, but my guess it's about 3000 lbs +/-. That may be too close on a 3500 lb tow rated vehiclewhen you consider addingpersonal belongings, food in fridge, water in tanks etc. Sales guys are not as focused on the right unit for your tow vehicle.



Someone else mentioned the hybrid trailers that are hard shell and extend a tent like feature for sleeping. Something to consider.



We heading out to Garner State Park in the Hill Country of Texas in another week and I'll report our experience.

I

hope everyone will welcome a family of Holiday Ramblers to the Crossroads forum. </span>Our longtime dealer in Maryland is no longer

carrying HR products since the bankruptcy and purchase by NaviStar. </span>The family is now considering and closely

looking a Crossroads to replace our aging mini-fleet of travel trailers and we

are the first ones up as we are also first time purchasers. </span>One of the reason we are looking at

Crossroads is that HR is no longer supporting the travel clubs which we have

found so helpful and of great value through the years. </span>Does Crossroads have travel clubs and are they

supported? </span></span>

We

will be using a 2005 Lexus RX330 and are looking to purchase a Slingshot which

from all appearances is a nice well built trailer on the cutting edge as compared to other manufacturers

we have looked at. </span>We like the

butterscotch interior and would like to know what others have purchased and

think about the two interiors and why. </span>Are

the finishes and overall quality of the trailer holding up? </span></span>

We

are also bit confused as the brochure lists our Lexus as being able to pull up to a

23-foot Slingshot, ideally we would like to tow the 26-foot. </span>The Toyota Highlander which is fundamentally

the same model is listed as being able to pull any of the trailers and

therefore we are not sure why the difference.

</span>When we spoke with the dealer, they advised the tow weight for our SUV

is 3,600-lbs. and that we can safely pull the 23-foot trailer though we do

share the same concerns mentioned by Shellee in the above post. </span>The dealer advised that most manufactures list

the safe towing weight below what the vehicle can actually tolerate. </span>We don’t wish to be halfway across America to

find out they were less than accurate. </span></span>

Welcome JKM127. I'm new to this as well. Picked up the GT26RL just a few weeks ago. We are heading out to Garner State Park in the Hill Country of Texas this Friday for a 3 night stay. Between the 5+ hour drive and the 1st time we will have fired up most every feature...AC, microwave, sound systen and tv, stove, fridge and freezer, shower and toilet...well you get my point, we'll see what if anything fails to deliver.

We got the drak brown cabinets withalum inserts (weight reduction) and the leather(??) seating with rocker. My wife went first for the floorplan and the color combination. It appears to be well constructed.



The dry weight from the factory posted in the trailer is 3560 lbs. My Buick Enclave with factory tow package is rated at 4500 lbs and I added a weight distribution hitch. Your mid 3000 lb factory tow rating may not safely pull the GT26RL. There are a number of sites that will outline the maximum allowed weight calculated with both the tow vehicle and the trailer. My review of those suggest you options are not viable.

Hi, We got ours at Lees. This is our second purchase with them. They have not steered us wrong yet but since our first hybrid, we were constantly looking for alternatives. We picked it up already. Ours has a weight of 3129 before the load. We are towing with a 2006 Xterra with a tow rating of 5500. We could definitely feel it while towing. Who is your dealer? I will hopefully get the pictures up this week. I have been spending a lot of time in the new camper .

My wife and I will both be retired after next may and plan a multimonth trip north and west from north florida where we live. Although we have a 2500 Dodge diesel we also know this gas mess is not going away. So for the future we need to go lite and smaller horsepower. What I am saying of course is the words of lin and larry Pardey, Go Simple, Go Small, Go Now. Now that I am pushing 70 I am feeling and watching myself distruct. The Golden Age is 30s,40s,50s, it was tougher , challenging but great!!! OK thats enough soapbox drivel!! We are really liking the slingshot as I can see from some of you. I have some concerns however. It seems plain inside,,I wonder if the darkness will be depressing, My dealer says its Too Lite and won't hold together on a really rough road or if it gets bumped . Talk some more,we are supposed to go see one at the middle of this month in St Augustine. I will let you know what our impressions are.. Niemie

It looks like good construction very similar to my Cruiser, and I am happy with it. The did delay bringing it out for a while after they announced it

Just got back to Houston in our GL26RL SlingShot. 3rd time out since we bought it in April. Usually 3-4 day trips in the Hill Country within 500 miles. We stayed at Inks Lake State Park about an hour or so from Austin.



We have the dark brown interior and really like itvs. the oak finish we usually see inother models. We have the floorplan with the bathroom seperating the bedroom and the living/kitchen area. Thatis the floorplan best suited for my wife and I with two small dogs.



It came from the factory with options at 3560 lbs. I did have a weight distribution hitch installed with it and a brake controller. My Buick Enclavewith factorytow package is rated at 4500lbs. It tows nicely even in the hill country and somethime requires downshifts to 3rd or 4thin the 6 speed automatic.Not sure how it will do in the mountains but plan to find out in the next year or so.
