50 amp cheater box (plug)?

Does anyone have experience with the 50 amp cheater plugs or boxes? In theory they should work wonderfully so curious if everyone has one or if there are issues with them. Thanks for your input.

I have been using a 50 amp plug adapter to plug in my 30 amp system for years. I like it, have had no problems

If you are talking about one that plugs into both a 30 amp and a 20 amp outlet, then there is a problem if the 20 amp is a GFI outlet (which is code as I recall). The GFI will trip. If the park has not installed GFIs then the cheater box will work, but you only have 50 amps vs the full 100 amps available with 50 amp service.

Hi Larry,

Yes that is the one I am talking about. We are new to 50amp.service and are going to 2 state parks for thanksgiving - both only have 30 amp service. I will call the parks to see if they have GFCI plugs.

Thanks for the info!

Is there a reason you want to have 50amps? Everything in my '13 Cruiser works plugged into the 30amp service using the 50 to 30 amp adapter.

Good point- I guess the only thing we would not be able to run would be the 2nd A/C. Should be ok for thanksgiving but I was thinking of future trips as well.
