Bicycle Rack ?
I need to install a bicycle rack to the rear of my 2014 Sunset Trail Reserve. Any ideas on what type of rack & receiver I should use?

We bought fold up bikes from Craigs list and put them in the back of the pick up.

Some have said the bumper cannot hold it. I opted for the bike bunk, putting it on this weekend.

I also agree the bumper may not be strong enough. What is the bike bunk? And where did you find it?

the bumper will hold bikes if you do it right.....see pics..we did 9000miles the past summer with out a prob..
But you have to reinforce the hitch to the cross member and add the anti bounce eyelets to the corners to stop bikes from bouncing.....it works.

The Bike bunk is not cheap but is a great option. When we had an SUV we attached a strap on bike rack to the rear tailgate. When we moved to a pick up we switched to putting them in the bed of the truck. There have been many documented cases of bumper bike rack failures and just as many success stories, your choice if you feel like taking the risk.

Anaro, I saw a Sabre with a factory rack on back. Don't know why that is not more common.

Yes, our new sabre will have that. It will be a nice feature. I agree more should have it.

Forgive me.. I was just skimming (I'm supposed to be working) so this may not fit your needs. But I chose to go with a truck bed bike rack, and it's been great. I have a 6' bed, so I have plenty of room to still put extra stuff in. I read too many horror stories about adding a bumper bike rack mount on the sunset trails.
This may be worth looking into for your situation.

I agree the truck bed would be the best place to haul the bikes but with a 5th wheel that option is out. I'm going with Harley's idea but beefing it up a little bit more. When I get it finished I'll post some pics. Thanks to everyone for their input.

I thought this was a great idea. And everything I read on it says it works great. I even saw one in action on a recent trip to CO. However on the sunset trail reserve the bed slide opens over the king pin. So the bikes and rack would have to be removed before the slide could be open.

For what it's worth, I made one of these for 5 bikes out of PVC pipe from Lowes. Custom cut it to size for my truck and did it for 30 bucks.

Yes.. sorry, I knew that not fully reading the original post would make my post pointless. Good luck with whatever solution you go with.
