I need to buy a jack, bottle type I suppose, to have a way to change a tire on the road. Most I have seen have a lift range of approximately 5 inches. Can any of you Seville owners speak from first hand knowledge on how much lift on the frame is required to get the wheel off the ground?

Thanks for your input.

If you need height out of the jack, just use your leveling boards on the ground to raise the bottle and boards between the frame and jack. Or you could drive the inflated tire on to Lynx levelers and get your height.

I carry a floor jack as well as a set of $20.00 ramps from Walmart that have a high weight

rating. If you pull the wheels (or back it up depending on the flat) it most likely will lift the wheels off the ground. And if it doesn't get it all the way off, it will have lifted it high enough that you can lift the axle with thejack under the spring perch very easily.

Iuse this method to put my winter tires on the trailer also and store my good tires in the barn out of the weather andlight so its not sitting on one spot all winter.Edited by: drcook

Thanks for the insight drcook. I hadnt thought about doing it that way. I bought on of those two level platforms that you roll the good tire up on but due to the flexing of the suspension, it wouldn't raise my other tire completely off the ground. I can do that and then finish it up with a 5" lift bottle jack. I have read elsewhere that one should not jack any part of the axle. Have you actually jacked at the spring perch?

Thanks again.

Yes I have jacked the wheel up at the spring perch, but never on the axle itself, as that can bend them.

Hello, new Seville owner her but I've used these (or other brands) over the years on lots of trailers (up to 21K) and they work great!
