Accumulator

Here's a pic of the accumulator I just installed. It's made by Shurflow. Cost about $45 another $5 for a faucet pick up line.
Installed it today. No leaks!!!!!
I put some bubble wrap around the hard plastic water line where it comes through the floor. Figured that was part of the pump noise, vibrating against the floor. It sure runs smooth, and a lot quieter. The on and off has been cut back also.
Accumulator is pre charged at 30#. I set it down to 25# they said most efficient if it has 20# between on and off. My pump is suppose to cycle at 25#/45#

The accumulator can be placed any where in the pressurized side of the plumbing. (After the pump) Also can be installed in any position.

Lloyd, thanks for putting another project on my list! I wish our trailer had that much room around the water pump. The rear wall of the pass thru storage area has an access door for the central vacuum but it is not big enough for me to get through to access the pump. I am going to have to remove the rear storage compartment wall so I can have room to work around the pumpso this will have to wait for it to cool down in the Fall.

It acts as a reserve tank to hold water pressure and a volume of water to help reduce the cylcing that occurs as your water pump attempts to meet your water demands. Without the accumulator the pump runs till it meets its preset shut off pressure, automatically shuts off, as your faucet remains open it lowers the pressure which again causes the pump to kick back on (cycling). The accumulator reduces the number of times the pump has to start/stop thereby allowing it to survive longer.

Finished my accumulator/flex line installation yesterday. Picked up 2 gallon tank for $39 (incl ship) on Ebay, another $17 in flex hose and fittings from local hardware for a total of $56.00. What a difference!! Pump is much quieter when it does run, once it pumps up tank (3 minutes) the faucet will run for +/- 2 minutes before pump kicks in again. Should be able to get a couple of flushes on the toilet at night withoutthe pump kicking in. Thanks to everybody for the input.

Glad to hear you got the job done. That's a pretty good size tank you pickup. Mine is no where near that big, but it did stop the constant on/off cycling and made it a lot quieter.
