I bought 2 with the same gauge that screwed onto the tanks, after about 30+ days gave them away. They showed full right up to the point it was empty, 1 day full the next day empty, the changeover regulator was just as informative.
I know others that use the Mopeka gauge system that have claimed they work much more accurate than the one shown, I have no experience with it.

I agree with the statement ''good luck with that'' If by chance you ever get lucky enough to notice a drop in pressure, that tank is so close to empty, your tank selector will be switching tanks for you. Had one once upon a time, never ever did catch it that it showed a low tank, lol. Always full or empty which has it's own warning system built right into it, lol.

I just noticed in the picture you have it installed downstream of the changeover regulator so it's reading the low pressure/regulated side not the tank pressures. Curious how that could tell you anything, "tried" or "true", other than the tank valve is open?
In that location it will show green, as will the CO regulator, when the tank empties it will show red, as will the CO regulator, when you turn the CO lever to the full tank they will both show green again..

I just got the Mopeka LP tank monitors and I will be installing them tomorrow.

It sends an ultrasonic signal through the tank to measure the LP, then sends the results to the inside gauge and your app on your cell phone.

Previously I used a luggage scale to weigh each tank. A 30lb tank empty is about 24lbs and a full tank is about 54lbs.

Just a quick question - do you have both tank valves open? If so the gauge would always show green as long as the change over valve is working properly. That gauge mounted between the tank and the regulator/change over valve would work better but you would need 2 gauges then. But the indicator on the change over valve would give you the same information.

By the way both tank valves should be open for the change over valve to work properly and keep you from running out of gas then having to turn the other tank on. After a while you will learn your campers usage and when to check the change over indicator.

Ive been trying to find these for years. But just actually spoke to our local propane recert center. He said the floats were breaking off in the tanks if you travelled without tanks being full. And possibly even during removing to refill.

So I gave up the idea of having them installed.

Finally installed the Mopeka LP tank monitors. Very simple install, held on by two strong magnets and I added Gorilla tape. Had to sand a little rust off the bottom of one tank for sensor to make a good read.

A monitor installs inside wherever you like.

A good feature is there is an App for my cell phone to read the sensors.

Will see how they hold up going down the road this week to the campground.

I just pour a cup of boiling water down the side and where there is a temp change down, that shows the level. Old tech but it works.

I've been using the Mopeka for about a year now and absolutely LOVE it! They may be the most accurate sensors on my whole rig.

Sorry, but that's just not correct. All other things being equal, the pressure in a propane tank remains constant as long as there is still more than a trace of liquid propane in there. It's physics.

Back in 2018, I purchased an ultrasonic detector to test. It has a magnetic transducer that sits on the bottom of the tanks. I compared it with the weight of the tank as the tank level decreased and it was quite accurate. I have been using them since. It also has an app for my cell phone which is very handy. Great idea! I just installed a gauge on each tank on line side. 10.00 each on Amazon. Hated the red regulator indicator. These screw onto your existing tank valve and easy removal for filling. Also upgraded the rubber propane supply hoses to braided stainless steel line for peace of mind.
