Just added a shelf under the bathroom sink. It is about 16x15x7.5 inches. Here is a pic

Cut out part of the front panel. Aluminum channel attached to the backside of the cabinet frame holds the front of the shelf and the back is supported with a 1x1 furring strip between two studs. I used 3/4 inch lumbercore plywood, but that is just what I had laying around and it slipped into the aluminum channel I had, so there are no exposed screws. 1/4 inch plywood with aluminum angle would work just as well for this small shelf. The shelf is flush with the bottom of the frame so there is a 3/4 inch lip at the front. Also, since the shelf stops at the sink drain pipe, there is a 3 inch side panel to keep items from dropping onto the lower shelf. I did remove the P-trap to slide the shelf into place.

nice job, just wondering what you plan on putting on that shelf. Our bathroom cupboards were looking bare so we stacked 20 rolls of toilet paper in the cupboard above the toilet just for the sake of filling it-- just about a seasons worth of TP!

Simple, this floorplan doesn't have a clothes hamper like our last Cruiser. So we use the bottom of the cabinet as the hamper. There are lots of dirty clothes with our volunteer work at the end of each week. That extra shelf will hold lots of other things.
