Ceiling Speaker Replacement Suggestions

I am looking to upgrade my interior ceiling speakers in my Zinger 33BH. Any suggestions on what to replace with? I would like something that sounds better than the factory ones.
Thanks
Kurt

I looked in to the same. I stopped after realizing the amp in the all-in-one system would need to be beefed up with another external amplifier.

Depending on the year of your zinger, You most likely have these speakers (Crutchfield.com carries them)

Concertone 6500DC

6-1/2" speaker for RVs

  • single 6-1/2" speaker
  • paper woofer with paper surround
  • frequency response 130-5,000 Hz
  • recommended power 30 watts RMS
  • 45 watts peak power handling
  • sensitivity 89 dB
  • top-mount depth 1-1/2"
  • warranty: 1 year

The extraordinary think mounting depth is hard to find in a good set of replacement speakers.

Better speakers require more watts than what the factory head unit puts out. My 2013 300BH has this unit:

Specifications:
  • Maximum Current Consumption: 9 amps
  • Total Continuous Power Output: 50 watts
  • Load Impedance: 4Ω (4Ω-8Ω allowable)
  • THD: typical 0.02%; maximum 0.3%
  • Video Output Level: 1.0Vp-p +/-0.2V 75Ω
Anyone out there get these head units (or similar) to drive a good set of aftermarket speakers and sound better than the factories, I'd love to know. The numbers on paper don't appear to be an improvement.

There are cheap after market amps you can wire inline, but I didnt want to mess with it before our season last year. Thinking about making the change.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

By the way, you may want to pull the speaker out of trailer and measure the mounting depth.

The Concertone is only 1.5 inches mounting depth... The Model KFC-X173 on Crutchfield's site states a 3.25 mounting, but 2.5 on the details page. They may not fit.

Also, Amazon has the same speakers with free shipping and returns for $65..just trying to save you time and $$

Anyone changed the outdoors speakers yet? I looked at mine but don't want to do any mods to make them fit.

speakers

I added some bookshelf 8ohm speakers to ours using the original head unit ( which is lacking ) and it does make the sound better.

I have the same head unit and it does have a sub channel. I pulled it out and hooked up a small passive sub into the cabinet below the unit. Made a huge difference.

Beamer5,

Yes, I knew there is a matching sub for it, so the output jacks are there. That's great to know it makes a difference. Last thing I wanted to do is go through all that effort and not have net gain in sound quality. I've run into that upgrading stock speakers in cars.

Here's the matching sub Crutchfield sells. Yours is probably head and shoulders above this in quality though...

Concertone SW-BOX4

Ported subwoofer enclosure with 8" sub for RVs

Highlights:

  • ported enclosure with one 8" subwoofer
  • 4-ohm total impedance
  • power handling: 50 watts RMS (75 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 55-3,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 89 dB
  • warranty: 1 year

I saw that one,it will help since there is no bass at all from the stock speakers. I used a similar one I had from an old home surround system.

I pulled the trigger and replaced the crappy ceiling speakers with the Kenwoods. Sounds much better.
