Hello Everyone
Has anyone had experience with installing a RVComfort. HP Thermostat in a 5th Wheel Cruiser. I have read all the other posting about using a hunter thermostat but I like the option of being able to switch from gas heat to electric heat on the RVComfort.HP. Now being that I am recently a new owner, there could be something that I am overlooking or just don't know about. If anyone has some experience with this or advice, please help.

First off welcome to the forum!

I Never heard of that feature being used on others RV's. I think it would only work if you had a heating element in the AC unit, which is a feature on some AC units, but if your AC is ducted it cant have a heating element in it. That is unless they started to make them that way now but I doubt it. Edited by: fixit5561

I'm almost sure that this TS is for a heat pump, thus the HP after the letters. I don't know anything about it for a standard AC. I could be totally wrong.

Thanks for the Welcome!
I would imagine since this is a older unit (2006) that it doesn't have a heat element built into it. With that being said, will the Hunter Thermostats that other guys talk about using, work the heating unit in gas or electric mode?

Yes it will but your furnace doesnt have an electric heating element in it. The furnace in our RV's are gas type furnaces. They do have electric going to them but that is to run the fan and the signals that tell the furnace when to turn on.

I have a Hunter thermostat in my RV that is listed in my signature below here and it works great.

You should have no problem with it once it is hooked up.

No luck at all with the Hunter Thermostat. Followed a past post and wasn't able to make things work. Well other than it would come on but wouldn't work in auto for some reason. The SPST toggle wouldn't work either but I chalk that up to my terrible soldering.

did you turn up the thermostat to a high temp, higher than the outside temp so that the furnace would kick on?

Also did you wait for about 30-45 seconds? It doies take a while for the furnace to get the signal from the thermostat.

I see you are in LA and it is pretty hot there right now.

Also here is a link to help you wire it up http://www.rverscorner.com/hunterstat.htmEdited by: fixit5561
