Fan dead- can I use a standard bathroom fan?

Hi my fantastic fan sounds like a jet engine and we want to replace it with something stronger and quieter. I am looking at a standard bathroom hardwired exhaust fan that will fit the space. Has anyone done this? If so, are there down sides? If not, are there any reasons you decided against it? All the best, Pearl

The biggest issue is power. The existing fan is 12 volt, the other is 120. The only 120 volt on the roof will be the air conditioner.
I'd suggest replacing it with a MaxxAir vent fan with the MaxxAir cover on the roof.

As stated it is a 12v fan, you could look for a multi speed fan, if you do replace with a 110v fan it will not be available when you are not connected to an electrical service (shore power)

I replaced mine with this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
3 speeds, 2 directions, MUCH quieter.

Or you could find a small radiator fan that is the same size as that one and swap it out.

I replaced my standard factory fan with a Maxxair 10 speed remote control fan. These fans are quiet and strong. The DW can't reach the bathroom switch, and nobody can in the bedroom, it's right over the bed.
I actually changed two, one in the bathroom, and one in the front bedroom, where there was just a vent. I love them.
If you like, I will send you my old fan assembly for the price of shipping. It works great.. well as great as the stock fan does.
Personally, I would never go back.
