Faucets replaced!

My wife has never liked the cheep plastic two knob faucets in the kitchen or the bathroom on our 5er. So, today I replace both with better one Handle metal faucets. Can’t say it was easy due to lack of room. The bathroom basically was done by feel.

I'm with your wife. And, they aren't long enough. That was one of the first things we changed on our. I've been happy ever since. Yours looks great.

Go back and check all again; I once forgot to tighten a fitting, all dry hour later when I left; blew off 8-hours later at 2am :-(

I replaced our kitchen faucet with a one handle Moen in white and a matching soap dispenser. Love it. We have a peninsula. So we cut an access port and put a cover on it. Made it much easier. Also, love those shark bite fittings. Super easy to join pex to the braided metal fittings on the faucet, but they are a bit expensive. I added a shut off valve where the pipes are joined because there weren't any, and the fittings cost about $10 each.

My opinion:
Rethink those sharkbite fittings for long term use. As a professional builder/remodeler, I have seen problems with those fittings long term. I don’t know what the RV vibration will do. However, I will not allow those in a customer’s home. I have seen a number of them leak. You can get the PEX male adapters that will connect PEX to the braided steel lines at Lowes or HD. Actually cheaper than Sharkbite fittings. PEX, done right will not leak.

Just my two cents.

Regular home faucets from Home Lowes. Not plastic.

I too agree with the comment about the 'Shark Bite' being less than optimal versus the PEX fittings.

Mine had the regular PEX fittings. I don’t know anything about the shark bite stuff.

Our cheap original kitchen faucet eventually had a vice-grip for one of the handles and then I replaced it with a single handle high spout model from Home Depot which we really like.

However, gravity can turn on the water with the side mounted handle while bouncing down the road. That’s not a problem unless you forget to turn off the water pump sometime. It’s still not a big problem unless the spout bounces its way around to the counter top instead of being over the sink. And it still might not be a problem if you remember the pump is on and can find a place to pull over and turn it off. But for us, on a long narrow winding road somewhere in British Columbia with no place to pull off, it was a problem. We finally came to a town and were about to pull off when somebody pulled up beside us and said there was water running out the door of the camper – oh no!

It was a big mess, but no serious damage done. We bought a dehumidifier and ran it whenever we were hooked up to power the rest of the trip and things got dried out completely.

Just thought I’d share this so maybe someone else won’t replace their kitchen faucet with a side mount single handle model. We now have a rubber band safety on the handle and another on the spout, but somebody has to remember to use them.

Thanks for the heads up. I can see the side mounted handle doing that but wouldn’t have thought about it. We never run with the pump on but good reminder to double check. Good idea for the rubber bands.

Sounds like you better remember to close the forum page before you walk away from your computer, Lest SOMEONE happen to glance at your post ! Lol. Glad you got everything dried up. Definitely an oops moment.
