Future island on coasters

Hello everyone...we are new here and have a question that perhaps someone can answer.

We are putting two light weight MAINSTAYS Coffee Espresso tables purchased from Walmart, and with the use of coasters on the bottom of the four legs in order to move this delightful island, into our Zinger 32RE travel trailer.

HOWEVER, oh yeah, is there not ever a however??

We do not know how to place/attach the top four legs of the upper table onto the existing table below. Have however, purchased a baluster mounting kit which connects balusters to floors and stairs with the hopes this will work. But, the table top and only about 2" of the legs that screw into the table top, are hollow.

Have also thought that L brackets attaching the legs of the top table to the bottom table would help ensure their is stability, but, with the table it self being hollow and only a small area of the legs being filled with something for screwing into the existing table, it still brings a big question of how secure will it be as a kitchen island?

Golly, if anyone can offer any advise, it certainly would be so appreciated. Thank you for reading this and sure look forward to hearing back up here in Canada.

Not trying to sound like a smart a$$ but how about going back to Walmart and buying an actual island.

The weight is a factor on the islands which verses the lightness of the two coffee tables combined. But thank you for your comment.

Pictures would help us greatly. Your description is a bit hard to visualize.
You however have come to the right place for advice. The people here are always more than willing to help with suggestions and new un-thought of ways to build a better mouse trap. Send some pictures and we will do our best.

Believe this is the table

Yes, that is the same style but does not have a lid that lifts. We have managed to make the two tables into a light weight kitchen island but am not sure where I am to write it for others to read if they they too wish to make an inexpensive unit.

We succeeded in making a super lightweight kitchen island on castors.
We cut 1/2" off the bottom of all 8 legs which are hollow and filled 4 with a foam which hardens. The legs then had the 1/2" pieces glued back in, and four castors screwed onto the bottoms. The remaining 4 were filled with solid wood, (hubby had to cut them on the saw as the lengths etc, differed) and hammered in ensuring the bottom was level.
The top table had the four legs with wood fill, attached as per instructions to the one coffee table. This was placed upside down and the next table top put on top of the legs. 8 x 4" screws were used to screw into the table into the legs, about 1/2" or so away for the manufactured holes. This was so solid.
Next the legs with the castors were screwed into the holes beside the screws.
Once turned over, we cut accordingly to fit, floor tiles (68 cents)from Home Depot and put on top and around the edges to give a more finished look.

Additional update re the portable island. We felt the sticky tiles did not work well and the cuts were not to our satisfaction, so removed them and replaced it with a sturdy wallpaper used in rvs. What a difference.
