We added a 3" memory foam mattress topper to our bed. This makes it heavier & the struts won't hold it up. Have to use a wooden pole.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a mod to make the bed easier to lift up and stay open?
Thanks,

Good morning Jim,
YES. You can purchase stronger lift cylinders.
Warning. We did the same as you and added the 3" pad. This caused the mattress to push against the wall at the hinged head of the bed. We should have pulled the mattress foot-ward before lifting the pallet. Soon the entire hinge assembly pulled off of the wall. None of the screws that were to hold this against the wall had hit a stud. Just through the thin ply board.
I employed american ingenuity and it sure is not going to happen again.
