Improving bunk comfort

We just bought our 2016 Zinger 28bh and have been getting it ready take camping this weekend. My daughter wanted more padding in her bunk, so I ordered a two inch orthopedic foam pad. The full size option fit her double sized bunk perfect! (All I had to do was trim the pad at the angle of the bunk.) While removing the 'mattress' that came with the trailer, I noticed that just a plywood sheet separated her bunk from the storage compartment under the bed. I had bought some of the foil bubble type insulation for another project and decided to line the bottom of her bunk with it. I secured the foil insulation with a few pieces of velcro. Next, I placed the new mattress pad on top of the insulation. I didn't have to secure it. Then I put the mattress back on top. She has about 5 inches of padding now! Hopefully, this will reduce the heat and cold and make the bunk more comfortable.

I have the same camper. I added a 1 1/4" memory foam for my guests. I just noticed you have a hinged access to your storage compartment. I'm not sure if I have that or not. I will check this evening.

Aren't you suppose to put the foam topper on top of the mattress?

I didn't realize ours had a hinge until I pulled the mattress out. I configured the insulation to not interfere with the function of the hinge.

The mattress has a soft fuzzy outer covering that she likes. She is our 'Princess and the pea'. So, it is going under the mattress. It works out better for us all.

I think you could have saved yourself the cost of the foam topper. It won't be doing any good under the mattress.
The mattress has springs inside with very little padding on top. That is the point of the foam topper-- to pad those springs a little more.

Actually, the mattress in those bunks are only foam, so she just added another layer of foam. It doesn't matter if its on the bottom or top of the original foam.

No problem. They make so many different types of mattresses that it is hard to know what is in each camper.
