KingPin Bike Rack Installed

With pulling a boat behind my 5er, I searched out a solution for a bike rack that did not take up my hitch. I found a couple of really bad King Pin bike racks and then I found this one. It is very solid and after my first trip, it proved to be a great choice.

I got the two bike version with the extension for the short bed.

Does it have a mechanism for removing it when you are not carrying bikes? (short ofunbolting itfrom the pinbox) I have toyed with the idea of fabricating a tray type bike rack that would mount to the frame on the back of my 5er but just can't "pull the trigger" on it.

Do the shifters still work with all the bug guts in them?



Looks like a solid design, and shouldn't be an issue with tight turns. Just a little bit of work to load them up.

Shifters... I am more worried about the bugs in my training wheels. Have some practice to do before I can move to two wheels

Removing this is very easy, it is two pins and two thumb screws. Here are some additional pictures.

How do you load the bikes? Do you have to load the bikes in the truck and then lift them onto the rack? My back hurts already.

If you worry about that, you don't need bikes, you need a wheel chair.
