Lippert under chassis storage bins

Thinking about buying the Lippert Under chassis storage bin set up for under my 320BH.
The thing is priced between 600 and 700 dollars but I could really use the storage space. I'm looking at the one with the 4 foot drawers.

Has anyone bought and installed one of these and what do you think of it?

I guess I'm lagging behind lately. I haven't heard about them.

Have you got a link for them you could post?

Lippert under chassis storage bins

Yep that's them.

I'm looking at the 99" ones with the two 4ft drawers. That's a lot of storage on each side of the camper.

I had no idea they made them. I can see good and bad with them. But would add extra storage.

Also weight. I suppose anyone that is running close on their weight might have to be a little mindful of just what they piled in there

And if you do not have a lot of ground clearance

I measured the steps and from the specs these should be a little higher then the steps.

I went ahead and ordered them so we’ll see how it goes

Any mention of waterproof? Did I just overlook it? Be just fine if you only travel in good weather and live where it never rains. Hate to think of sliding it open and a pool of water and sewage hose is there to great me, along with whatever else sits in it sloshing around.

Thought about that. Don't intend to store anything in them that can't get wet. but, it is completely under the trailer and there are drain holes for any moisture to run out. the bottoms are ribbed so if it does get some water in the stored stuff should sit above the water. We'll see how it works??

I intend to keep the stuff I need for set up in there. Blocks, Lynx levelers, Power cable, sewer fittings ( in a separate sealed container) stuff like that.

I will. It is scheduled to be delivered Sat April 10th. My plan is to install it that weekend so I'll post some pictures of the before and after.

Thanks for posting. Looking forward to your review. I have 320FB also & find hose & power cords to take up undue amount of space.

Do they lock? I’m always wary of thieves.

I guess depending on where you put them and how much weight is in them then you might want to recheck the tongue weight maybe??

Amazon rescheduled the delivery out another week to the 17th. Eventually I'll be able to post an update.

They are not fitted with a means to lock the "drawers". There is a pin to retain them in the all the way in position, but no way to lock them to prevent theft.

The Drawers arrived today. Early, after two requests from Amazon to reschedule and had to leave work to be there to receive it. Long story.........
Installation begins tomorrow

The item itself is well made and beefy. The drawers slide in and out easily even when loaded. Provides a lot of storage for items that can get wet if it rains. When mounted the lids of the drawers do stick out from under the camper just enough. The lids on the drawers don't seal and are more or less open to the rain with the way the lids are designed. I'll fashion a rain cover for both ends to keep the rain out. I wanted this for storing the bigger set up items like wheel chocks, power cord, lynx blocks and for that it works GREAT.

The delivery of the item is a completely different story. During the purchase I selected Saturday April 10, and it was scheduled that way. Early in the week I received an email from Amazon telling me that I needed to reschedule and gave me a calendar to pick another date. I selected Saturday the 17th because I work during the week and delivery required someone to be here to receive the thing. Thursday the 8th I received another e-mail that the item would be delivered Friday between 1 and 3.

Why ask the customer when to deliver the thing and then bring whenever the heck they want to. that e-mail also informed me that the delivery driver would contact me with a time of delivery. They did, 30 minutes before they arrived. I had to beg off work to get home to accept delivery. The delivery guys couldn't have been nicer. They were friendly and helpful and helped me carry the item to where I wanted it. This was in a 9 foot by 2 foot box and was heavy. If it wasn't for the constantly changing delivery dates and times I would have nothing to complain about but ...... Who ever is running these types of deliveries needs to look at how they are doing things and consider the customers requests. If you are going to ask the customer when to deliver the item you should at least deliver it when you say you are going to. Extremely frustrating!

Update: Installed the drawers on the camper. I like them but:
The mounting brackets are just about an inch too far apart to match up to the trailer frame. Made a bracket and got them on by mounting one side onto the frame with 3 3/8 bolts. drilled the holes and bolted them up in the middle of the I beam web. That put the the other sides mount about 1/2" beyond the rail on the opposite side. Made a bracket out of steel bar. Solid as a rock. I now have a place for the patio carpets, the wheel chocks, power cord, sewer fittings, X-Chocks, stuff like that. Final product installed is just under 10 inches down from the frame of the camper. I have them mounted about 3 feet behind the rear tires so I think ground clearance should be fine . But, with a 10 inch drop , depending on where you mount them, that drop should be a consideration. The drawers do stick out from the both sides of the camper body so they will get water in when it rains. I have a friend who owns a machine shop making me hoods out of metal , one for each side, to bolt on the ends and cover the drawers to keep the rain out.
Overall I'm satisfied with the purchase and the product. The delivery, not so much, but overall a good purchase.
