Modified 30gal propane holder for 20lbs tanks

Howdy
Right now i don't need 2 30gal tanks so i modified the holder to carry 20lbs tanks. I got a piece of threaded gas pipe screwed flange on bottom. Bolted flange to original carrier. Used piece of copper tube for spacer on top threads so i don't have to change out rod. Then drilled hole for long bolt on top of the cross bar thing to keep it from sliding off. I can easily change back to 30 if needed.
But in this case i needed to save the 80 lbs (30 =50lbs, 20 =20lbs) give or take)

Wow...I didn't realize the weight difference. I figured it was only a 10 lb dif per tank. I have the 30's on my 33BH. With 1200 of tonge weight. After loading the camper I am close to 1400. I just may change out my tanks. Every little bit helps. ..you said 30 gal tanks. I am assuming thats the tall tanks. I figured they were 30 lb tanks..Thanks for the tip

You might want to consider swapping out that piece of copper tubing for a piece of pipe. I'm afraid the copper will just continue to compress resulting in the tanks being loose.

According to the data below, the 20 gallon tank weights 38lbs full vs the 30 gal at 54lbs.

We really talking a difference of 16lbs each, 32lbs total.

However, 32lbs here, 32 lbs there can add up in a hurry.

Hmm the plot thickens, thanks for the info. Think i need to find a different place to get my tanks filled. My supposedly full 30's weigh 50 and my 20 weigh 25.

Look on the collar of the tanks. It will be stamped as to the empty weight of the tank. If you do the tank swap thing with the 20's most places you only get 15 lbs of propane. Rhino for one. Grrrr. When they started the swap program it was 20lb then 18, then 16, and now 15. Price didn't go down though.
