New Decals

I recently purchased a 2011 Cruiser CTX RKX that is in showroom condition probably used maybe 5 times by an elderly couple. This unit still has stickers in the tub. Also all the instructions still hanging on the kitchen blinds and the oven door. My problem is that it sat in one place and covered in the winter, but in the summer the sun was facing the front and passenger side. The two sides of the fifth wheel are they are from different times. The driver side and rear still look brand new but the passenger side decals are mostly all cracked like egg shells. I found a shop where I live that can replace them back to showroom condition. It will be a little pricy but hey I have Cruiser except for this problem it is in showroom condition. It will look even better after new decals get redone..

If the decals are not peeling, just cracked, I had good results having a paint shop paint over them and then clear coat.

Russ, How did that work, painting over them? Just wondering how they did that without the cracks showing thru?

The cracks filled in quite nicely. The dealer said he does a lot of this. It is not as smooth as a new decal but very acceptable. I had it done a couple of months ago and the unit has been stored inside since then. I only had the faded side done and the color was a perfect match.

Local paint shop, or RV dealer?

IMHO, I would replace them. Painting over does not guarantee the cracks will not pop out in the future.

I had mine done at an rv repair shop while the unit was in for other work. I had a friend that had his MH done at an auto paint shop and it held up fine for several years. I can't tell you the cost as the shop offered to do the paint at no extra cost, an offer I couldn't refuse.

Well my quote came in for re decaling, well lets just say that I might just try the painting idea. I see on some other forums that whatever material that Crossroads used for their decals did not stand up very well to even regular sunlight. Also I assume that now with normal use the other side will start eventually doing the same thing. Also have spent a lot of money on re caulking( just regular maintenance) and a set of new tires as they are ten years old. I can wait for the decals as it is not as important as keeping water out and safety as new tires.

You can check this place for decals. Don't know the cost however.
