Ordered new Generator

Hi,

So excited that I originally posted this in the Sunset Trail forum in error, but I just pulled the trigger on a Champion 755531i inverter generator from Overstock.com for $668 that included a 10% off coupon no tax or shipping.

did quite a bit of research and seemed like a good deal and should start a 13.5-15k btu ac with no issues.

28000/3100 Peak watts, 80lbs, and 65db at 23 feet, so campground friendly(er)

Big plus for me is the regional repair center is just down the road in Medina, Ohio if we should ever need parts/repair. I've heard the inverters can break down over little 10 cent parts.

Any feedback on the purchase is appreciated.

That a really great deal. I've had one in my cart on Amazon for a few months now. I'm just waiting to see if it drops below $750.00 as I don't need it before late June.

Where did you come up with the 65db noise figure?

I see the Champion Power Equipment web site lists the noise level as 58dB at 23 feet.

My bad,

I transposed the number from the chart for "normal conversation @ 23 feet" from the actual, much quieter number of 58, which of course is the correct number.

Again, was trying to get this posted, as not sure how long the deal will last on Overstock and wanted to get the word out. Been watching this model for about a year.

Amazon still has it for 741 today.

Coopers_dad,

Yes, in the past I'd monitor prices on Amazon items by placing them in my cart and seeing the alerts at the checkout.

Now for about 6 months I watch Amazon prices through camelcamelcamel.com You just type in the ASIN number from the Amazon product page in the details along with your email and the price you want the alert at and they will send you an email or text when the price hits that point.

It took me month or so to realize how drastically Amazon messes with prices. Another cool feature is if others have set up watches in the past, you can see a chart of prices over the course of time.

If you're in the market for one of these, Overstock has the lowest price for a new unit I've seen since tracking it a year ago.

58 decibels would be considered very quiet.

Happy Birthday,

Mine as well was Bday gift to myself.

By the way, the price on Overstock is the same as it was when I bought it..$741. They still have the 10 percent off coupon too. Did you get that price?

I got it for 741.00 prime shipping and signed up for the amazon card to get $100 off. I've signed up for this card and canceled it after the first bill three times now bit they keep letting me do it. :-)

Good stuff

Just an FYI, the model you bought isn't the same unit we've been discussing.

The 75531i I bought is only 3200 peak, but is an inverter generator. While that generator you bought is a real beast with the electric start, is is quite a bit louder (68 vs 57 db at 23 feet), so running it at the campground may get some folks upset.

I did make a mistake on the model number. It is a 75551i Canadian version.

The only place in Canada to buy is Costco that I know of. Only ones available are in black and not the Champion Yellow.

You are going to be happy with that. I have the 2000w champion inverter generator and I love it. Super quiet!

I added a propane conversion so I can run it off gas, propane or natural gas.

Let us know how it works. I'm looking for something to run the A/C in my ST32BH. I don't use a generator enough to justify the Honda sticker price.

Good deal,

I like it better in Black. must be an emissions thing to have 2 models.

If you use it over the summer, let us know how you like it.

I went to two costoco stores yesterday and neither had a listing for this generator. Perhaps it isn't in Ontario yet.

Actually after looking at the generator again tonight I did have the model # right. It's a 75555i so it must be a Costco thing. When I contacted Champion about availability on the 75551i they responded that they were late on getting these out to Costco stores but said they should be shipped out to stores by May in Alberta anyway, and that Costco was the only place to get these, not Canadian Tire who stocks all the other models. Costco does not advertise these on there web site so I had to keep going in to see if they were there.
